American Idol to be Inducted Into Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame NEW YORK, July 18, 2011 /PRNewswire 21st Annual Gala Set for October 26 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York American Idol set out to prove that one audition can change the rest of someone's life. And it did just that by producing some of the biggest names in the music business, and the show's talent roster reads like a Who's Who of the entertainment industry including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Daughtry, Adam Lambert and David Cook. A potential performance I hope :D Maybe that's what the Proj Runway contestants are designing an outfit for. The Waldorf is not a large venue. It's unlikely that it will be broadcast. Prob only paparazzi on the Red Carpet. I used to get my hair cut at the salon in the Waldorf. Twenty years ago I used to spend $110 on a haircut. Today, a bare-bones haircut for $30. |

The Waldorf Astoria will always hold a special place in my heart. I ordered my first martini there. Seemed so sophisticated and old that I ordered my dad's drink -- and they brought gin on the rocks with the vermouth and twist on the side. Seemed so elegant to me. Simpler times. The B&C Hall of Fame is talking heads and video -- usually not much in the way of performers and not televised. (The MC makes lot of jokes.)
