Hi all! Delurking again from full-time mommyhood to post about GNT Portland - the show I attended :-). I was 7 weeks pregnant and therefore totally exhausted. I brought along a non-fan musician friend to make the trip down from Seattle with me (I was too late to get tix for that show). We arrived late and drove by the long line on the way to our hotel. THAT got me excited! We arrived in the middle of Allisons set and yeah, couldn't understand a thing. Instead i noticed th incredibly diverse crowd, including some kids, nd the venue, which was striking - if hot. Orianthi redeemed herslf solely with her guitar playing, and then we waited. My friend wanted a drink, so we went into the drinking section, and ended up finding a great vantage point on the riser along the far wall, and next to a fan! So, the pregnant lady watched the entire show from the drinking section, lol. We also could see the floor bounce, though:-). I remember actually having a spike of adrenaline when I noticed that Tommy was missing, and then thinking, "how soon can I get onto PF to see what's up?" Ah yes, stanning! I also remember exchanging glances with my friend during numerous epic notes from Adam, and watching her get more and more impressed :-). Two other memories: the body roll with Brooke (and everyon actully doing it - like the "now jump," moment), and watching Adam almost screw up at the start of Fever because Tomy was missing :-(. I can't believe that was only a year ago! And now, a sincere thank you to all of you for providing a much-needed respite on days like today, when my dear,sweet 4 month old daughter won't go to sleep! Nice to hear your recollection of the show - we drove down from vancouver and it was one of my favorite shows, the venue was beautiful as was the crowd energy and the heat was unbelievable (both on and off stage )

Is there a full moon????
Someone posted that Adam funded his own tour on MJs. The comment went to Twitter as fact and came back here. I post on MJs that I did not know of any support for the statement that Adam funded his tour. The response was the Kidd Kraddick interview. But it is not in the Kidd Kraddick interview -- not said by either Adam or KK. So as far as I can determine, there is no support for the statement that Adam funded his tour.
The reason it matters is that in Idol-speak this is a massive insult. Only one Idol alum had to fund his own tour, Taylor Hicks, and that was because no one would fund it.
I usually overlook this Idol nonsense but this is being used to say that Adam was not "bankable". Which is total nonsense.

[laugh]
I get it.
Funding one's own tour only occurs if 1) nobody wants to fund you or 2) you're Madonna and don't need to bother with banks.
Its kinda like a mortgage. The only people who don't use them are those who those banks don't trust or those who are **SO** rich that the financial benefits for having a mortgage are peanuts to them.
Its GOOD that Adam didn't have to "fund his own tour".
That said - its true - "ze boss pays for everything". Everyone essentially gets paid by Adam, before Adam gets paid. That fact has NOTHING to do with who put out the cash for the tour.

And frankly I'm bored with the butthurt going on the "other" idol sites where they are trying to say Adam didn't work dam hard for everything He has achieved over the last two years. Hmm... wish I could find the "haters gonna hate one". Lulu I believe its called a psychological phenomenon of believe perserverance/cognitive dissonance where they can't accept the reality that Adam is successful.

I had the impression they are certain that Adam funded his own tour because there was no sponsor logos etc attached to the tour, like coke and pop tarts for Idol. ETA it's these kind of discussions that keep me away from Idol blogs :-/

I thought for a while I had lost my mind. Adam never said he financed his tour and KK never said it either. This appears to be confusion about Adam being responsible for paying for the band, dancers, crew, etc. and that he was financing the tour. Two different things. I'm confused, I originally thought like you did, that he was paying for the band, dancers, the tour expenses. I don't maybe when Adam said that he was paying for all the shows in that clip posted up on page 12, this is what he meant.

This appears to be confusion about Adam being responsible for paying for the band, dancers, crew, etc. and that he was financing the tour. Two different things. Semantics--agreed. I don't know anything about it, but it's clear that people have different definitions of what "paid for the tour" means. Certainly, as the artist, there is some account of his that is paying for things and he gets the profit. What seems to be confusing is did some investors provide "start up" money for the tour? If so, they would certainly have been taking a cut after the $$ started rolling in. Am I out of whack? ETA: What I mean is that for any business venture, unless company/person has enough money to get things running until a profit is made, someone else helps fund it because it looks like a money maker.

[waves wildly] Hey birdieeve!!! Thanks for dropping in with the daughter update! [grin] Wasn't so long ago for us. Admittedly, 4 months is when our daughter FINALLY started sleeping...at least a bit! Its also when she really started getting a personality. Fun (but exhausting) times. Enjoy it while it lasts. She'll start growing out of your arms soon, so get those full-body snuggles as much as you can. {{hugs}}
