Had to laugh at my feed. "Bert" from Project Runway became a trending topic. People were wondering what was all the berting about and what happened with Adam. I liked Bert's dress the best too! Adam will be a great celebrity judge on PR-can't wait. For all those going to the concert, have a great time!

Sorry if my question about the Do Something VH1 poll sounded dumb. It just seemed odd to me that they would present an award based on fan spamming voting. Jazzrocks, just logged in quickly to say I didn't think your question sounded dumb at all. there is something weird about just clicking away into the ether--feels kinda silly. I agree, it seems a ridiculous way to test anything. And there's always the suspicion that we're just being manipulated or taken advantage of for ad revenue, which, after all, is what's happening, no matter how faithfully they are also counting our votes. so I totally got where you were coming from. however, I guess as far as the Do something awards go, as it turns out, the willingness of someone's fans to do something silly like click a little box online over and over and over again directly correlates to their willingness to do something much less silly--that is, rally behind the object of their admiration to donate, or get involved in some other way, to achieve really positive change in the world. So that's something, at least. I did some more digging on this, just to satisfy our curiosity. From last years press release about the winners: www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/dosomethingorg-celebrates-the-2010-vh1-do-something-awards-with-star-studded-award-show-in-hollywood-98809459.html" Online voting was held to determine the winners of the celebrity categories, which included influential celebrities, musicians, comedians, and athletes, inspiring films and television shows, and social media initiatives. " ____________________________________________________ and from the DoSomething "about us" statement: www.dosomething.org/about"Who We Are DoSomething.org is one of the largest organizations in the U.S. that helps young people rock causes they care about. A driving force in creating a culture of volunteerism, DoSomething.org is on track to activate two million young people in 2011. By leveraging the web, television, mobile, and pop culture, DoSomething.org inspires, empowers and celebrates a generation of doers: young people (25 and under) who recognize the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action. We: Believe in young people. Young people have the power to lead. We don't require old people! Trust young people. We provide reliable, easy-to-access information and activation strategies, but young people decide for themselves what to do. Celebrate young people. We think all measurable contributions from young people are valuable. Respect young people. We understand that young people have diverse abilities and constraints. Value young people. Our programs and products are free. We're not after young people's money; we want their passion, time, and creativity." ____________________________________________________ So it makes sense that online voting would be a legitimate part of achieving their mission.
