While I understand the many difficulties, it would be lovely to see Sasha dance to this beautiful song on SYTYCD....

NoAngel - Actually I did believe he would surprise us and do something new. I asked him on twitter, nicely and spoke it three times here on Atop, trying to spin some magic into my request. I KNOW Adam listens to his fans, because he often responds in sweet and lovely ways to our requests when we keep it reasonable. And a surprise last night was a reasonable request that I expected to be met. New album in the works, a free form show with a lot of leeway to do something new and exciting, a large captive audience and a bunch of peeps recording away. Adam is a very very smart man and knows exactly how to use modern media. By performing a new song, especially one with political overtones with that pure voice of his, no over the top flamboyance, he's created a good buzz in many different circles for his upcoming album. The lyrics are true, true, true. I live in liberal town, but my partner and i do not do PDA. no way. While we are out in our social and spiritual community, we prefer not to have to deal with the repercussions of our sexuality in either of the populations we serve. Our co-workers are aware of who we are to each other, but her students and my patients do not, at least not because we are out with them on purpose. Some people figure it out, but we are careful with how close we get to each other in public, and this includes romantic evenings out at a restaurant. No holdings hands across the table! It is a complicated dance and it never ends, being gay. Who to reveal this to? Who not? Who is on that need to know basis? Every time I meet someone new I have to make that decision. Do I use the terms "partner" or "wife"? Or is it safer to just talk about my ex-husband and children when the subject of personal, family relationships come up? Adam and his song hit this issue square on the head. And I love him for it. I love him for stepping up and singing it like it is. Pure and simple, baby, pure and simple. Wow!!! Thank you so much for being broken open and sharing with us.

I just read your post, amw, and it saddens me. It saddens me that you feel that you have to be so careful in your interactions with your wife while you are in public. I am not challenging your decisions, I am just stating that I think it is sad that that is what you have to do.
My husband's sister is a lesbian and has been with her partner for just over 10 years. I have known them for six years and have seen them touch each other three times. You would think they are just roommates just to look at their interactions.
At my daughter's birthday party in May, the three of us got talking about how my husband and his sister are alike. I was teasing her partner about feeling her pain for living with the quirks that our spouses share. The response I got was so warm and light, they dropped their guard and for held hands while talking to me for a few minutes. I want them to understand that I stand behind their love and life fully. Their love is real and they don't have to be afraid of me.
To me, the saddest line in OOL is "Nowhere to grow old". All of us need someone to grow old with, to share the joys and sorrows and challenges life brings. Love is love.

I usually don't post Adam stuff on my Facebook status. My circle of friends just doesn't get my obsession with him. But, I have many dear friends in the GLBT community, as well as many supporters of that community. They NEED to hear OoL. So, I stepped out and posted the Talc video and the lyrics for all to see. Hope they check it out. I think it will be affirming and healing for some.

#OutlawsofLove has been trending at #2 in NZ for quite some time now, and EVERY other trending topic in NZ is related to our National sport, Rugby which is a HUGE obsession here, especially with NZ hosting the world cup in a couple of months.... so this is a BIG DEAL!!! ;D But my point is, how in the hell did this NOT trend worldwide today??!!! >:( >:(

Thanks for sharing, amw. Such an unfair way to have to live. When I hear the lyric "we're looking for the sun" I think of the experience you describe, being unable to express love and affection publicly (to be who you are without reservation), in the full light of day, proudly, not in shadows but openly and uninhibitedly with the sun on your face. I hope that day will come for you soon.
