Two Fux was added to about all! New Music Friday playlists on Spotify. Including the worldwide 2 million playlist one. The combined playlists this morning for me already had close to 2 million followers. It's way over 4 million now I bet with 83 playlists. See here: www.spotontrack.com/track/two-fux/26463469#tab-playlistsI'm expecting quite the update on Spotify tomorrow. Over 100k for sure! That is cool. I bookmarked that page, will it update? I played it through the worldwide NMF playlist first. Here is where the name Two Fux might come in handy - people scrolling through the NMF playlists will take note and perhaps play and then be caught by the song's boppiness ( I just made up that word ) kind of like choosing a bottle of wine because you like the label ( don't hate me momtomany ). Actually, you have made another thought come up. COVER ART. VERY important, IMO to have a bold badge to catch the eye of a casual browser through a list of songs. A song or album needs a strong visual pop to help it stand out and get noticed. I love the photo ADAM is using and so snagged it for my avi BUT it is not a cover that pops to me. It is different than most though by being light in colors so maybe it will standout by reverse.

Well, I can't be far behind ... there goes my black swan! yikes! You can put your avi in your phone or computer photo storage site or even your desktop and upload it from there so you don't lose that at least. Thanks, into the cloud it goes!

Q3 COMMENT - PLEASE IGNORE THIS COMMENT --- It IS COMPLETE NONSENSE AND I KNOW FOR A FACT NOT CORRECT. SORRY I DID NOT SEE IT SOONER.
Apparently things did not exactly go according to the plan. My bet, based on hints we’ve been getting + speculating, is that the initial plan was to write an album with MM’s team and get the first single out pretty quickly, to spare time for promotion before the QAL tour begins. They may have started working together, and the writing went towards a bluesy direction. Now it seems there’s no MM and no album. At the time, it looked like after a gap, Adam started working in the studio again. And probably that's when the songs went in the glam direction. Perhaps they were thinking of releasing a song after the US leg of the tour. But then Brian offered to add 2Fux to the setlist, and they decided, why make everybody wait. If the song was already done, they could take the opportunity and just release it, even if they had no time for radio and TV promo, and use for promo whatever they got - QAL concerts and some interviews. It’s a good thing in my opinion! Otherwise we would have had to wait till August. See, I don't think this is what happened at all. I think wbr gave Adam the choice of what he wanted to do (and that is a great luxury and I am grateful that he has that choice). The resulting conversation went something like this: you can either ask us to give you producers who write radio hits, because radio hits is what they do, and you sing what you guys come up with together, and then we promote to radio using the producer's credentials to get the music through the door... or you write the lyrics 'two fux' to a slow waltz, because that is what your artist's heart dreams up, and then you can do that, but those producers don't want to write slow waltzes or flamingo lyrics and they are not on board then. And Adam said, I want the flamingos. And if you ask me why I am a fan of Adam, then it has never been for the chart topper, it has been for this butterfly that dares to fly freely where everyone else tells him he can't or shouldn't, and yet, he has found a way past all the walls and fences that society has put in his way. He has found a way to fame without the chart toppers that others need to be in the public eye and have a social influence. And I am sooooo happy for him! :/ Bye, Bye WBR. Album decisions and everything that goes with it are made by the artist, management and label. Initially MM was going to be involved with album #2. Getting MM back on board for TOH and album#2 was arranged by DMG. My bet is the label suits at WBR crunched some numbers and decided it wasn't feasible or very profitable to spend a big budget on Adamfor album #2. MM is very expensive and knowing the label wasn't going to be fully behind Adam would take MM out of the picture and Adam going with much cheaper writers. MM also guarantees in writing that his songs would be the first singles promoted to radio and pushing a song to pop radio is minimum $1million. That's exactly what happened. Adam really had no idea when he was going to release single/album other than he hoped to be soon and there was no talk about an August single release either. That was all fans speculations. According to recent interview Adam let Brian and Roger listen to TFux and Brian offered to include it in the set. This gave WB the opportunity to take advantage by releasing TFux so quickly and unexpectedly. TFux is not a radio single. Adam can't sing this on tv. They will most likely focus on streaming by having the song on many Spotify playlists. Print, interviews, social media, performing it live on tour is all we are going to get. WBR gave Adam a choice all right. The conversation went like this: We won't be funding a full album but we will do singles only and see what happens. If the songs take off ( which will be no more than 2 singles) we can than consider putting out an EP ( which Alisan hinted at) As for Ryan Tedder. Ryan is a writer and producer for big artists for many labels. Ryan has the luxury to do whatever he wants. He can sit on his butt and just collect royalties and not ever have to put out an album. Other than that the only artists that get the single releases only treatment are artists that are just starting out or artists that the label see as not making a profit on and/or not selling singles/albums and very little radio play. Just like RCA Adam is getting setup to fail. They'll claim they tried without really trying and than drop him. As for Adam you don't get that "I don't give Two Fux" attitude unless things are not going rosy and the "there are several more track releases planned" means nothing. There is a bright side tho. Adam is now open to doing a Queen album if the boys are willing.

Okay. I am seriously bummed now. Peace out!!! No need to be. This was anticipated for a long time, and is happening not only in Adam- world, but in the music world overall. Things are changing. Albums don't sell in the traditional brick and mortar settings from the past, they have a huge overhead to make and sell, and if the return on investment is not there, then this is just not the way to do things. I think that eventually, an album will be put out, quasi as a collection of previously released material with maybe a couple of newer tracks thrown in. The latter will not be heavily promoted, but sold as collectors item mostly to the existing fans. But promotion happens for now on a track by track basis, and the opportunities spread beyond radio. Cross-promotion with other industries is widely used by many artists (i.e. use in movies, advertising, promotion via a dance show, etc. has lifted many songs into the charts). Adam has treated his past albums as eclectic collections pulled together by himself as the artist at the center of it, he has given them a rather widely defined theme, and he has regularly jumped traditional genre lines. This can continue, but the effort resource-wise is going into the tracks themselves, rather than trying to pull together a message for an album that is only very loosely strung together to begin with. WBR is actually doing promotion for TF from what I can see, but yes, it is not screaming from the sides of every bus in New York, if that is what you were looking for. They are also seeing what they can do via the Queen tour, via online streaming, via the promotion that is already planned. It obviously has gone to radio, but they also know what track they have, it is not exactly a fast paced dance track. In fact it is super slllooooowwww. And there are controversial lyrics, including the TF title. Even for a slow waltz, it is on the very slow side. Dancers typically will slow-waltz to something with 80-95 beats per minute, from what I can tell, this speed is way lower than that. By the way, I think it is a classic 3/4, not a 6/8 at all, imo.it is again a track of contrasts, something that Adam has done so often in the past. In this case, it is a slow waltz that is about as serene, and relaxed, and calm as you can get in the dancing world, and obviously very traditional. This is in juxtaposition to the sharp, edgy, and rather forward reaching lyrics and the rather defiant stance. How the market will react to this, I don't know. It is such an ear-worm that it is hard to ignore, once it has been heard. But whether it will be embraced, understood, and streamed or whether it will be discarded as whimsical, confusing, or too out there for some, I don't know. I suspect we will get a few reactions to this one over time. As Adam says, he does not give two fux, and I am just watching myself (besides buying and streaming obviously). I really, really like hearing what Adam says in those interviews, that he feels he has found his place and is more 'namaste' about things, that he is sonically reaching back to the glam-rock sounds a bit more, that it all came about rather organically, and that his label lets him progress like that. Not many other artists have this opportunity. Adam is in a good place, and I am so happy for him. I've been dancing ballroom for 28 years and seriously studied with pros for many years. TF is NOT a SLOW WALTZ! It is a slightly slow to normal speed Viennese Waltz and it is definitely in 6/8 timing (or possibly in 12/8 timing but definitely not in 3/4 timing)! Someone is counting measures (if counting as 3/4 timing) or half measures (if counting as 6/8 timing) rather than beats. If one listens closely, one can hear that beats 1 & 4 of the 6 beats per measure have a different weight and feel in the bass/drum sound (a down swing on beat 1 & up swing on beat 4), this is typical of 6/8 timing in Viennese Waltz. In a 6 beat segment, beats 1 & 4 in a Slow Waltz sound exactly the same in the bass/drum line (always a down swing) - it is then counted as 3/4 or 3 beats per measure. Competition Viennese Waltz has a tempo between 150-180 beats per minute (BPM). TF has roughly 140 BPM, a very nice social Viennese Waltz temp. For more details, see the discussion about the time signature and suitable dances for Someone To Love, which is also a Viennese Waltz, in the Vocal Masterclass thread: adamtopia.com/post/530566/threadadamtopia.com/post/530570/threadadamtopia.com/post/530575/thread
