Mmmmm. The close-up pics of Adam performing in a tank top. But, I am such a geek. After I wiped the drool off my chin, what hit me was that the pics clearly emphasized what a wide, barrel chest he has. While it is not the classic shape for a pin up guy --- they are supposed to have broad shoulders tapering to a narrow waist, in a V shape --- it is perfect for a singer because it produces the rich, full, honeyed sound of his voice. Lots of room there for the sounds to bounce around and echo. And he expands that chest fully when he sings, making it even more prominent. Yup, that's me. The music geek. : Hey Cassie, you've touched on something I have often wondered about. Adam does have a large chest and as you say, not the typical desired "pin up" guy shape, and I wondered if that was a contributing factor to his powerful voice. It makes sense to me, as he has lots of room to breathe. Very cool point, thank you! The shape of his chest influences his sound, without a doubt. This is mainly as a resonator. Take Monte's electric guitar. If you pluck a string with it unplugged you get a very soft, flat tone. Kinda a "plink." That is because there is no air cavity to capture and enhance the sound vibrations. The acoustic guitar has a hollow body construction, and you can hear a richer, fuller sound. Even when he uses an amplifier to run the sound thru a speaker in concert, the tone of the acoustic is much more mellow than the electric. Now, consider the acoustic bass guitar that Tommy used a couple of times .... maybe in "Unplugged." It looked just like a guitar, but it had a rather ginormous body. That body allowed the bass frequencies enough room to roll around and sound rich and full. If you put bass guitar strings on a regular acoustic guitar, it would sound dull and plunky without that extra space. Adam's tenor voice is the result of the shape and length of his vocal cords. But the richness of it, the fullness of it comes from the large chest resonance. The brightness and lightness of it comes from the head resonance. He has some wonderful body cavities for singing. (Don't even go there with whatever else you were thinking!) Does it allow for better, fuller breathing? I don't know if his lungs are actually bigger than the norm, tho I would not be surprised. But, it does allow for strong, large muscles that control the breathing. Just another tool in his arsenal. He still has to know how to use all that resonance and breath. And THAT is where he excels.

Allan Louis on Designing Shoulder Pads for Adam Lambert and Romancing Beth Leavel in Baby It's You! INTERVIEWS By Kathy Henderson August 4, 2011 - 1:16PM ... Idol Friendship: When he wasn’t talking tough onscreen, Louis played a glam-tastic rocker dubbed MzA Superstar in the underground L.A. club hit The Zodiac Show alongside eventual American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert. “Adam was a musical theater kid I’d met in The Ten Commandments,” Louis recalls of a D.O.A. musical starring Val Kilmer (!). “The Zodiac Show offered us pure freedom of expression to create visual performance art.” (To see the pair in action, click here.) When Lambert made it to the Idol finale, his pal was in the audience. “He was onstage with KISS wearing rhinestone shoulder pads that I had built,” Louis says with a laugh. “It was wild.” ... Flecking Records, the UK publication that champions Adam, has a new article out called "Why do you love Adam Lambert?" They are asking fans to explain in the comment section and will quote from fans in writing an article. Here's your chance to mention all the good things about Adam. www.fleckingrecords.co.uk/2011/08/why-do-you-love-adam-lambert.html

Wow! That was really brave of Adele. I would have never interpreted the song that way, but... wow! It is interesting, but not Adele's official video, it seems to be by a film student (hai alma mater!) Well, I feel dumb!

My guess, and purely a gut feeling ... he'll keep it universal by not using pronouns or attributions at all. He'll opt for "baby" or "you" or "my love," or "we," as he uses in OOL. Adam has his eyes very much on the commercial viability and I think he kept the He in "Fever" a little bit as a protest and a little bit as deference to Gaga's writing. Since he is writing the songs now, I think he'll table the issue as unnecessary because those things can rather easily be written around for universality. I don't know, I'm wondering about this tweet: jeremygillam Jeremy Gillam @itsbennyblanco @claudekelly Is @adamlambert doing that No Boys Allowed tune?? 18 hours ago from someone who works with Benny Blanco. We can't extrapolate from a possible song title, but even if Adam does dodge pronouns, more personal and revealing music by it's very nature seems like it would be somewhat specific about Adam's own thoughts/feelings/experiences. I really don't know what to expect, but I know I can't wait for it!!!!!! I wouldn't call it "dodging" pronouns necessarily, just making it more universal and emotionally accessible to everyone. Yes, he has said this is going to be very deeply personal and even biographical, but like OOL, the way he captures that raw experience and makes it relatable to any individual's experience is where the magic occurs. He regularly said "Aftermath" can mean different things to different people, of course (though it still always gets the gay anthem label, which is fine, as that's one facet of it). But it meant something entirely different to Alisan then it did to Adam when they were writing it and it likely had a different meaning to Ferras and Ely as well. I received a pitch awhile ago from an organization that is trying to eliminate gender pronouns, which are patriarchal in nature. Now I can't remember what the society was called. I thought it was interesting though.
