Not a Day Goes By. Adam singing Sondheim ... Only two lines, and he's a bit off, but my life might now be complete. That song has been a personal anthem since about 1985. Awww, I hope you get to hear more on the actual show! Now that is a nice thought! Two lines of this song were changed--I think in the '90s sometime--I much prefer the original. But since I'm way OT on this, and it's all about ME at this point, I will move along. Carry on! (Yay! Project Runway tonight!)

Can you imagine though how it would feel to be a young person, struggling to deal with their sexuality, to have someone like Adam talk so openly about it. Seeing that he went through the same thing and how he overcame the insecurities and became a great success without hiding his sexuality? Adam is trying to give young people like him what he never had, a gay role model. Also, I am sure this is just a small part of the special but I think it is important and it looks like they deal with it very well in the episode. I does look like we'll get quite a few new pics and things though. Same subject but with home movies. Yay! Adam's struggle to find you he is as a person as well as a musician will always be part of him and it feels like he's internalized this as his political statement. Again saying, he didn't know anyone who was gay and they didn't talk about it at school. Say his name these days in elementary schools and the gay label is defintely attached to him like a brand too. But you know how he handles that, by telling the kids I'm willing to be open so that you know somebody just like you. And I think Adam compartmentalizes these things. A discussion about his new album should be about the music, of course when he puts out new music like OOL well then there is going to be some verring in that direction. In a biographical piece then for him it was a large part of his self discovery. ITA, and just to build on your comments: another reason I think it is important and helpful for Adam to talk about his discovery re: his sexuality is that there are many people in this country who still think that sexual orientation is a choice. And unfortunately, some use this fallacy to justify depriving gay people of the right to marry, among other things. Adam's story illustrates that homosexuality is not a choice; it is a naturally occurring variation in sexuality. So, I think Adam is a role model and an educator, in a way. As more people like him tell their story, hopefully the ignorance and misconceptions about sexuality will go away and lead to acceptance. (Sorry if the thread has moved on from this topic. I just stopped by and wanted to add my 2 cents. Back to work ... )

OK, which one of you wrote this? @idolator idolator dot com .@adamlambert discusses his sexuality for the umpteenth time in his 'Behind The Music' preview. That's a GOOD thing tiny.cc/z77hs "And, sure, it might seem trite or done-to-death for the Season 8 Idol runner-up to discuss the trials and tribulations of being closeted as a teen. But let us just jump up on a soapbox for a brief moment to remind everyone that this is a struggle for millions of kids on a daily basis. And to hear someone like Adam Lambert relay his own coming-of-age story in this manner lets those individuals know that things can, indeed, turn out alright. (In addition to being a successful recording artist, Lambert is in a seemingly happy, committed relationship.) So bravo, Adam. We know you’re probably tired of telling the story. But we guarantee that there are many out there who are always eager to listen." idolator.com/5963051/adam-lambert-vh1-behind-the-music-preview

I totally get the "omg not the gay again" thing, but IMO this BTM is such a fantastic opportunity to reach people and maybe just maybe open minds. It's pretty awesome that for young people figuring out their identity and struggling with self-esteem, Adam can be the person in the public eye that Adam never had.
