Thanks to all of you who've uploaded the HD Youtubes of BTM, I've finally been able to watch it this morning. Thought it was very well done, gave us lots of Adam's life in his own words. Being gay and how he dealt with that definitely shaped his life, how could it not, and the decisions he made many times that were influenced by that. For some reason, the eyes in many of the early pictures really struck me this time, even though I've seen most of them before. So direct and so alive. While he's been very lucky in his life in large parts, it also wasn't easy at times, and his strength of character is so admirable. As Buder said, what a blessing he is in our lives!
Loved the recognition of his charisma and talent by Barry Weiss, and of course Simon and Paula, it never gets old to see that. #2 can't come soon enough!

Yay, hi there relatively new fan, welcome. Yes, please share how you discovered Adam because we love to hear Adam discovery stories. I would love to share it . if Adam had not released Sleepwalker from GN live DVD to promote the DVD here in Germany, I wouldn't be here in this forum now. They played it a few times on the musical TV channel. I liked the song and I was like "Is this really live", I had heard no one else singing live like that. One day I realized, that i had not heard Sleepwalker for a week or two, but I really wanted to listen to it, so i searched for it in the Internet. After a few days I found myself on Youtube watching the videos from the GNT, AI and started to watch a few Interviews, realizing that he is nice, humble, charismatic, intelligent and honest with a beautiful eyes, which probably made the difference between "I'm a fan" and "I'm listening occasionally to his music" I knew WWFM before Sleepwalker, it was a hit here, but I had prejudices against pop-music and thought Adam is "just another pop-star, with an album packed with meaningless songs, all sounding the same". How wrong I was :-[ Till today Sleepwalker is my favorite song from FYE and I'm wondering why it has not been released in more countries to support the DVD. Aralid, welcome and thanks for sharing your story. I've been here a long time and just have to chuckle when stories like your come along. Most of us have been there: heard him, heard him more, checked on the internet, interviews, articulate, photos, attitude, etc. It's really nice to know that the rest of us are not completely nuts. Even a newer person notices these things and can join us down the rabbit hole.

From tweets posted by PostFestumPF: "eyesLILIeyes: I kinda love that the non-fan meme I've seen so far has been "oh he actually paid his dues b4 Idol, not just a wannabe' #TYroaches" Does this mean the roaches give him cred with the indies, etc? : :-/ ETA: Does anyone know what kind of viewership numbers BTM had last night? And what the repeat viewings are likely to be, based on the original viewing?

After I have now viewed the Behind the Music a few times (or rather several times), I want to share my thoughts.
- Yes, the gay thing was very prominent. But so what? BTM is a youth oriented show, and the whole theme of the Adam episode was about the struggles of a gay teen and later a gay entertainer in the current world. The show gave out a very positive and important message, and if Adam was used to deliver that message, good for him! (The question on wether Adam would have been picked as a subject of this show if he wouldn't have been gay is a pointless one: Being gay is part of who Adam is. I believe that if he wouldn't be gay, he wouldn't be Adam Lambert at all, not the way he is now. So the equation straight + Adam + BTH =? is not an alternative to be considered.)
- Even when the show addressed Adam's situation in the verge of his decision to apply for American Idol, I think this part of "the story" could have been presented better. Adam was bored. He completely understood that he had worked ten years in LA, but hadn't managed to make a splash. Age-vise, his time was running out. Oh well, maybe the "I realized that I have to make my own destiny" -approach was more entertaining and inspiring. (My thoughts: Um.. didn't he just say that he HAD worked for it? if he only ten years later realized that he had to make it happen instead of waiting it to happen, what had he been doing the last ten years? Knitting?)
- I would have liked to see someone speculating why Adam is so popular, why he is appealing to such a varying crowd.
- Also the hate towards him should have been addressed. As the gay thing was so upfront, they should definitely have also told about the internet/Radio DJs/parents council/fundamental christian hate that he has received because of his orientation.
- The studio clips, of course, were the best! Adam should definitely have had a film crew with him all times, and then after Adam#2 he should publish a behind-the-scenes documentary DVD movie "Making the _____"
The show let me make my peace with the Michelin man shoot (as they showed it as a part of other shootings, tied with the end result) and the AMA performance (because the short clips show that it wasn't sung THAT BAD.) So. Overall, it was excellent 8-)
