Well, got my first really pissed off response to my anti-Michelle B email yesterday. It came from a girl I used to work with who I know fairly well, but we're not really friends. Up until 5 months ago she was still sending me anti-Obama rhetoric, jokes, etc. so I'm not surprised. She said the interview was "misinterpreted." I'm not sure how that can be since it's plain as day, but some people have to delude themselves. A former pastor of mine's cousin was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff back in the 90's and I told her that even he was against DADT, but she didn't want to hear it. It's pretty funny because I asked her and she said, "NO," she didn't know anyone in the military. Why besides homophobia would she then be against it? Anyway, 2 more people I can't wait to hear from. I guess I won't be having lunch with this one if/when I get back to FL. Rambling, but trying to get out the door. Difficult to misinterpret this: Kathy Griffin the day after Adam's callout - Griffin also shared a question that she actually asked Bachmann while at a recent rally in Washington DC:
"Congresswoman Bachmann, were you born a bigot or did you grow into it? Her response was priceless. She said, 'That's a good question, I'll have to get back to ya.'Continue reading on Examiner.com Kathy Griffin appears on Conan O'Brien's show, rips Michele Bachmann (video) - National TV | Examiner.com www.examiner.com/tv-in-national/kathy-griffin-appears-on-conan-o-brien-s-show-rips-michele-bachmann-video#ixzz1VDmlfpIeI know, not much room for misinterpretation. As I said, this woman is very, very conservative and I'm not sure why. She's not a person who goes to church, is, or was, at least probably mid to upper middle class, and nothing else that I know about her that makes her a rabid anti-Obama conservative. It's odd. Just like MB, she needs to own her stand, not say misinterpretation of MB.

I'm behind... Frankly I want a pendant that says "It's not that deep." A lot of ppl in this fandom could really take that to heart lol Um, the Trevor Project is about saving the lives of suicidal teenagers. Does it get deeper than that? Oh, I don't wanna speak for Chunkey, but I laughed appreciatively at her comments and the ideas behind them, and I don't think that's what she meant. Of course the Trevor Project is a serious and worthy cause, and of course it's nice that Adam contributes to that cause in this and in many other ways, the greatest of which is probably just in living his life the way he does in the public eye, and in being who he is without apology, as he himself has said. But there are many sides to Adam and what he does, and while he's really terrific, he's not a saint or, at least primarily, a hero. He's a pop star--as he says, he just wants to entertain people and make good music--and sometimes in the process of that he serves as an inspiration to people who need it. He certainly is grateful for all he is lucky enough to have won through his hard work being a musician, and gives a lot back because he's aware of how lucky he is, but one thing I've always loved about him is that he doesn't take himself too seriously, and no matter how much his fans may think he is heroic, or the savior of all the downtrodden and insecure, or a knight in golden armor, or fucking perfect, he thinks of himself as a "weird fuckin fag" who's having a great time being just that. He's appropriately modest when he speaks of his role in the greater cause: just that he's doing exactly what he would do otherwise, what many others like him are also doing, only that he is brave enough to continue doing it despite the fame and attention and many obvious risks that come with such openness. That, almost despite himself (as the narrative of his EQ acceptance speech went) he fount himself an important role-model for those who desperately needed one. Yes, it's obvious that he's growing increasingly comfortable voicing his opinion on and joining in causes that are near to his heart, and good for him; and of course the message he sent with the pendent about peace, which is really a message about safety--the safety of being secure in yourself, in your love, in the love of your social circle and of your family--is a genuine message that he dearly believes in. But it's an extracurricular for him, as he said in a couple of interviews this weekend. I believe he still wants to be a popstar free to make his music and entertain in ways that are often separate from all this deep stuff, and in ways that sometimes, because of their very light-hearted freedom from all that, set the most freeing example of all. I guess what I'm trying to say is he's not saving the world... he's just being himself, which is a pretty damn cool thing to be. And as awesome as I think it is that this pendant thing will raise a lot of needed money for the trevor project, the Adam that gets me all hot and bothered is not the one with the admittedly important after-school special believe in yourself message, but the one who embodies that message by strutting around in his frickin' medges and snogging his straight bass-player and wiggling his gorgeous ass with a tail hanging off it and flirting with "fairies" on stage and singing his fucking head off in a way only he can, which may all be not very deep at all, but it is pretty fucking fabulous. Also, I think, in the end, for many fans, its still more about the music than anything else, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that (and don't think anyone said there was). And some weekends, like this past wonderful one with the Equality Awards (LOVED them) and the Do Something awards, and Adam's well-placed, damn-straight tweets, and this Trevor Project pendent, it can be easy to lose sight of that in the midst of all the beautiful, inspiring, do-goody flurry, LOL. And little green-hearted music-lovin' gremlins can suffer stomach aches from all the genuine sweets . LOL to all of which Chunkey would (surely) reply, um, geeze MWP, it really isn't that fucking deep!

Are you kidding me??? A peace symbol? Really? I wore one religiously all thru high school and college. Made from stained glass, each section a different color. I kept it for many years out of nostalgia, and only gave it away a couple of years ago when I cleaned out all my old jewelry. Now I have to get another one? Hmmm. Maybe I'll just wear it with the autograph facing out. Hahaha my thoughts too. Must be an age thing. Many of us in a certain *uhhummm* age range grew up around the peace symbol, LOL. Aww Adam, yes I can understand it means a lot to you - our hippie child born in a different time... ETA: Perhaps this will inspire the younger generation to bring it back to being the "in" thing in today's age.... Cassie & adamfanem - LOL exactly my thoughts too - probably is age-related. Hopefully it will appeal more to his younger fans than it does to us.

Maybe Greece has a prohibition on peace signs? LOL OMG I tweeted him and told him that I can't buy it and that I already have the infinity pendant and he sent me a direct message to twitter telling me that as soon as he can get on his site he'll add Greece to options! This is what he tweeted me! "I will add Greece to the shipping options as soon as I can get into the site! Don't worry. We'll get you taken care of." OMG I can't wait! They know it is gooood thing to take care of the Glam Nation. We are many and we are loyal.
