Question: Okay, I don't get it. Why did Kathy Griffin even start singing Mad World in the first place? Even with ear phones on, I can't really understand what she was saying before she suddenly starts singing MW. And when she goes down into the audience, what's the first thing Adam says that makes everyone laugh? I can't hear that, either. :-/ Hi bb! Kathy said she wanted to have a "moment" at this event and I guess the best way to have that moment was to get Adam to sing. She told everybody to pick up their phones and videotape it. I'm thinking she picked Mad World not only because of the message of the song, but cause it's a simple and kinda easy song to sing. So she started singing calling Adam to come and join her at the stage. At another video we saw Adam standing but I guess he wanted to tease her and he sat down again, so he left her standing there singing. When Kathy goes to his table Adam said that he thought it was funny to let her swirm a bit and everybody laughed.  |

I think Kathy Griffin tried to get Adam to duet because it was funny, unexpected and it put the spotlight on Adam. Clearly planned in advance because she had the lyrics.
And it really was "the moment".
Mad World was a great choice because it is Adam's most famous song performance and (thankfully) really easy to sing.
