Thank you, Zinnia, for the translation of Sauli's blog! I wondered about this: Is that a common saying in Finland? I've never heard anyone compared to a baseball cap before! is it equivalent to "Pretty as a picture"? "Cute as a button"?

Well, got my first really pissed off response to my anti-Michelle B email yesterday. It came from a girl I used to work with who I know fairly well, but we're not really friends. Up until 5 months ago she was still sending me anti-Obama rhetoric, jokes, etc. so I'm not surprised. She said the interview was "misinterpreted." I'm not sure how that can be since it's plain as day, but some people have to delude themselves. A former pastor of mine's cousin was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff back in the 90's and I told her that even he was against DADT, but she didn't want to hear it. It's pretty funny because I asked her and she said, "NO," she didn't know anyone in the military. Why besides homophobia would she then be against it? Anyway, 2 more people I can't wait to hear from. I guess I won't be having lunch with this one if/when I get back to FL. Rambling, but trying to get out the door. Yaay for you, savvy. Just after I read this, someone in my feed RTed this from the TheMarkTwain twitter: TheMarkTwain: Loyalty to petrified opinion never yet broke a chain or freed a human soul. You are challenging her to break a chain ... Also, reminds me of a quote from a very quirky English movie called "Dean Stanley." Sad that this movie never got any reognition because it is a wonderful artsy film. Some think, the fact that it came out almost the same time as The King's Speech, probably led to it staying under the radar. Anyway, if anyone has Netflix, I'd highly recommend it. Oh ya, the quote: "Only a closed mind is always certain"I almost tweeted it to Adam once, but the opportunity passed. Maybe yesterday would have been a good time ....?

As another Finn, I have to say that I had never heard that expression before Sauli started using it. The idea is the same as with those idioms Seashell quoted, but it is a totally new one to me. Other Finns, please correct me and enlighten us, if I'm wrong! I guess we are all learning some new language with him! ;D

Yep! Isn't that the whole idea of red carpet to be seen? I'm sure the entertainment outlets jump eagerly to report male fashion to give a touch of equality in the fashion reporting. And let's face it: Adam's style is not subtle! Anyone can understand it, wether they like it or not. It doesn't really even matter if he ends up in the list of best dressed or the worst dressed, the point is to be seen and remembered ITA! I think Adam will be more and more anticipated because he does always do something a little risky, a little out there, a little unexpected. In the past, it's either been your Clooneys and Pitts, who look gorgeous, but are always wearing some variation of your basic Armani suit or tux. Or you have the OTT rockers or rappers, who are mostly WTF??? Now you have someone who will wear different designers, take chances, sometimes grab random accessories, he'll do something different with his hair (and that's like a living canvas, geeze ...) and makeup and then speak about it with articulate enthusiasm. Interesting how he's already cast himself as the person to wait for with most red carpets. If he hasn't arrived, they're not going anywhere. People joke on twitter that it's his chronic lateness, but I think it's totally deliberate. When he's one of the last ones, he's somewhat in control ... he'll give himself just enough time to speak to who he wants to speak to, skirt past those he doesn't, and not be shunted off when the next big name comes down the pike. Of course, if he's doing something really major, like the Grammys, Emmys (or more!), he can gauge that and show up somewhere in the middle of the pack as to not usurp the nominees, major VIPs, etc. I totally agree with this. Yes, Adam is late quite often but I think for these red carpet and press events it is all part of Adam's Master Plan. SusieFierce, Congratulations on your Retweet!!!

(sorry, I did not post this orginally) Found on twitter @adamlambert Adam...here’s what I know for sure. Although I unfortunately am not gay, I do have several much-beloved members of my own family who are. The closest I’ll ever get to being gay is to be blessed with my luscious middle name...that’s right, it’s Gay! I’m Brenda Gay … named for a neighbour’s child who my mother adored, long before the word gay represented anything other than happy. It’s been an interested few years since the name Gay also has come to mean something other than happy. It also represents the GLBT community in a profound way. I’ve been hassled, harassed, teased, made fun of, laughed at and mocked for having ‘Gay’ as a middle name. Can you imagine? I couldn’t. Didn’t think anything of it until the teasing and nasty comments began to filter down into my subconscious. Once I realized that there were some folks who thought my name Gay was synonymous with being gay, it took me a split-second to understand, to ’get ’it, that this is only a tiny little bit of what my gay friends and family must live with. Strange what happens to ordinary people when they realize that there is a tender spot in someone...in goes the longsword! BOOM! They twist it until they see blood and tears...only then are they satisfied. I believe that people who are blessed to be born into the spectacular and fierce GLBT community are an elite group of souls who have come into this Universe at a much higher level of soul evolution than the rest of us, and they are here to teach us lessons of compassion, equality, kindness, unconditional love, openheartedness and true love. I’ve learned a lot about these qualities by having my own amazing GLBT family and friends in my life. So, to the Michele Bachmans of the world I say, “Open your heart and let the light in! It is a stunningly powerful way to clean out your heart!” In the process, she just might learn something about love and compassion. Living how she lives now guarantees more bullying in schools and workplaces, more violence against the GLBT community and more narrow-mindedness in this world. We’ve had enough! The buck stops here. It’s time to stand up, shout out and be counted! 2011-08-15 12:43:32 Read more: atop.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=daily&action=display&thread=443&page=14#ixzz1VCrkJ2SQFacinating conversation on yesterday's thread regarding the Blechman interview and Adam's tweet. This one sentence that I bolded really resonates with me, and reminds me of my son, who is 21 now, and also it sounds like a description of Adam.
