I think it's really great that the Do something vid clip focused on the Trevor Project if they just wanted to highlight one or two charity activities (I'm sure all the nominees were involved in more causes also, but they had to choose just one or two to highlight for brevity/impact). Partly because while fandom has put its' mighty weight into fundraising for Donors Choose and Charity Water, logistical difficulties as well as other considerations made the Aftermath Remix sales a smaller scale. Pennyroyal is a wonderful opportunity too (as soon as their new site has all the kinks worked out.) Therefore along with feeding into the narrative BTM and DoSomething wanted to create about Adam, it also brings more attention which brings more donors to this cause which clearly means a lot to Adam. Earlier today I handed the trevor project lifeline phone number scrawled on a scrap of paper to someone. The conversation in my studio with my young intern had come around to Michelle Bachman and in a round about way he revealed that he was really worried because a friend who wasn't out yet had made a suicide attempt over the weekend. I told him about the Trevor Project, and offered the number and he asked me to double-check it to make sure it was written correctly before he caught his ride home. All I can do right now is hope, I can't sleep. The Trevor Project is currently doing a fundraising celebration to raise 13,000$ by the end of the month for their 13th birthday celebration, I just set up a page as part of their drive on stayclassy for any Adam Fan who wants to donate as inspired by him.(You can donate anonymously, although it looks like you need to create an account to leave comments, you can use a username instead of your real name though). www.stayclassy.org/fundraise?fcid=121330click on the "activity" tab to comment and see donations. I invite you to join me! Here is the link to the Trevor Project's birthday donation invite: www.stayclassy.org/west-hollywood/events/raise-13000-for-trevors-13th-birthday/e7067ETA: I'm too tired at the moment to come up with a nice non-generic short blurb for this page. Any suggestions? RabbitRabbit, thanks for doing that: both providing the phone number and the donation account. I'm glad you were able to help with the phone number. It really hits home when something in real life happens like that.

Yet another stage collapse... August 19, 2011 (HASSELT, Belgium) (WLS) -- Five people are dead after a fierce thunderstorm at a music festival in Belgium as the Chicago band Smith Western was performing. Belgian officials announced that two people died overnight, bringing the death toll to five. More than 100 people were injured as well and continue to recover. Concert organizers say what happened was exceptional and couldn't have been predicted. A storm was passing through the music festival in Belgium when the stage began to sway and then suddenly collapse. ....Belgian concert organizers canceled their three-day event. The festival was sold out. Rapper Eminem and bands like The Foo Fighters were also expected to perform. Link to video and story: abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=8315527

I think they focused on the Trevor Project because of the LGBTQ connection and left it at that :( I was pleased that they focused on the charity campaign that directly incorporated music. It also might be simply that it was just because Trevor Project was listed first. And WWFM, Trevor Project, Aftermath and IGB was a complex enough message. Throw in two more charities and the montage might have been unintelligible. The fan campaign for Adam was to get "Aftermath" nominated as best charity song -- so it was the only thing listed when Adam was first nominated as Best Music Artist. VH1 added DonorsChoose.org and charity: water to Adam's nomination within 24 hours.

I loved how Adam's package (er, video intro) was so much bigger longer extensive than the other nominees.
I timed them to see if I was imagining it (and because I'm petty like that :D):
Nick Jonas :14 Linkin Park :14 Biebs :19 Adam :26
Lady Gaga & BEP were not included although they were on the ballot. Bottom two?
and weren't they pimping Gaga during the show? If she made an appearance I missed it.

Re: The possible Out magazine shoot. I think that both Out and Adam are between the rock and a hard place with this. First, it's an issue of the magazines policy. Out Magazine knows that people are following how they'll treat Adam. If they'll include Adam in their Out 100 list, it's news. If they don't, it's news. So they can't just do nothing about it, because doing nothing is a statement, too. Second, it's a simple matter of journalistic content. There are only so many of public figures that are out in America. They aren't excately crowded with openly gay people with ready made public regognition and draw. The magazine can't afford to substitute people that would draw interest with people who woudn't be famous or woudn't be gay. Also, there is no journalistic reason for leaving Adam out, as no-one can argue against him fitting in the 100 most influential LGBT oriented people in U.S. As for Adam, there really is no reason to carry a grudge for long. First, he isn't (yet) in a position where he could be very picky about his promotion opportunities. Especially if he's offered a shared cover. Second, Adam is scorned by a portion of gays and gay culture outlets. It wouldn't be good to stenghten this dislike. I believe that Adam will be included in the Out 100. I hope that he gets the cover, but I strongly doubt that he will. The magazine would sell plenty of additional copies because of it, but the core readers, who are the life of any paper, might see it as selling out. JMHO OUT Mag needs Adam more than Adam needs OUT. Here is a great piece from Queerty from November 2009 --- -- Adam was on the OUT 100 list in 2009, but not on in 2010. I can not find any press about it. OUT picked Adam for both the 2009 and 2010 Power 50 lists. (#5 in 2009, #43 in 2010). The Power 50 does not require any participation from the celebrity, OUT 100 required the celebrity to agree to a photo session. -- Adam is very picky about what he does. Even RCA Ed posted that Adam did not want to do TV shows until he finished his album but could do them. -- Adam is not scored my any major gay outlets -- he is regularly covered (and favorably covered) even by OUT Magazine. -- Adam was not publicly politically involved when he left Idol. This caused problems with Hicklin and other gay activists. This tension runs throughout the gay community and is not just limited to Adam. What was different about the OUT situation was having the editor of a major publication -- a publication that just put Adam on the cover of the magazine and selected him as 2009 breakout artist of the year -- publicly rip that out gay artist for not being a political activist. The point is moot now -- and Adam has become an outspoken advocate for gay civil rights. -- The gay community is not one, homogeneous mass with common views. It is impossible to capture the "gay market" because there is no such thing. Just like there is no "straight market". It appears that Adam is making a concerted effort to expand his fanbase in the gay community and that makes sense. I think he will continue this effort but Adam can do it with or without OUT Magazine. OUT is the largest gay monthly in the US -- but the circulation is only about 200K -- and all OUT readers are not gay.

Yes, the release dates should appear soon -- maybe early Sept date???. And there cannot be a storm until they are ready to release the single.
