NoAngel - the threat that a gay man has towards a straight man is often the straight man's unexpressed and repressed desire to try that out. We are all on a spectrum of sexuality and if we are really honest with ourselves, we may find that we have a little homosexual living in there. Or not. Most people who are comfortable with their sexuality and very sure of who they are do not carry such fear that someone will "turn them gay". But many Americans are raised in such a way that if they even entertain homoerotic thoughts, or dream homoerotic dreams then they must guard against such heinousness and fight the gay inside. For some, this also means fighting the gays outside of themselves as well. Self-loathing is something that many people who come out talk about having to overcome and often it takes years. As Adam said on BTM, when we are growing up there are very few available to let the GLBT teens know that it is OK to be different.
ETA: and for many gays and lesbians, if we really want to be honest, there is a little straight person living inside of us! this is often just as difficult to deal with as we saw in the response Adam got from the GLBT community after his Details shoot last year. We humans like categories that are neat and fixed and those of us who are more fluid represent a threat somehow to those who are not.

Can anyone help me? Yesterday I tried to order the Peace Pendant thru the Pennyroyal studio and was unable to complete the order. Everytime I finnished putting in all my info it kept directing me back to the review my order section . After I reviewed, it would do it again. I was never able to complete and submit my order! I am very frustrated. I even emailed Tim at the studio. He tried to help but never saw the order. Also each time I reviewed, at the end it would up the order to 2 items! Very strange.

Agreed...that's why she doesn't want this, but does want to use something from her own beautiful photo collection. For the record and as a matter of full disclosure, I do not own any Adam bedding. I do not think it's either creepy or hideous. I am, however, certain my children would think it so, even though they have all slept with everyone from Barney to Mickey Mouse. (My 20 year old daughter still can't throw away her Barney blanket, but she no longer sleeps with it.) Anyway, I would still love to have Bamafan's pillow. Maybe I could just buy the pillowcase. Now where's that address? ;D As for Hicklin, perhaps it's time for the new generation, with new ideas, to take over OUT. I went to Ebay to see who I bought bamafan's pillowcase from but I can't see any purchases past 60 days ago. Is there a way to see back further? It came from Hong Kong - I do remember that. I followed a link from this thread when I bought it in late May or early June.

I would try a different browser or a different computer even if you have access to one. If Tim is not able to even see the order then I would think that something in your browser settings is interfering in the communication with the site.

The entire premise of OUT Magazine was to create a gay style and entertainment magazine that would deliver an affluent gay audience to mainstream advertisers. They were successful and are now the #1 gay publication in the US.
It is now owned by LPI Media -- they also own The Advocate. So the two national US gay publications are owned by the same private company.
The Advocate which is the more news-oriented of the two publications has been pretty fair to Adam. So this was not a companywide problem, IMO it was Aaron Hicklin being a grandstanding a-hole.
I would love to know exactly what happened that made Hicklin lash out at Adam because I do not think we know half of the story. And it may well be that there was a lot of 19 stuff going on that Adam was unaware of. Not justifying Hicklin because there is no reason to publish a letter like the one he wrote -- particularly targeting a new gay recording artist at the being of their career.

Hmm, the only thing I can think of is trying a different browser. Maybe there was some security setting that you don't realize that is somehow blocking the transaction?

So to take it down to a basic level, a straight man's biological imperative is to procreate. If a man is not attracted to women and is not driven to procreate, this threatens survival of the species. It seems (again I'm talking biologically) that a straight man's chances of procreating are improved if there are some gay men around, since that means more women are available to the straight man. But if as you say the straight man is somehow deep down afraid that he himself may have homoerotic drives, then he himself becomes a threat, and so he lashes out at potential targets of the unwanted attraction. Hmm. It's a leap, but makes sense.
