BTW, I'm gonna take a pass on The Grammys. Gonna watch the Shameless finale and a few shows I have stored on DVR. I'll get the Grammy highlights tomorrow on the news. I'm not rooting for anyone in particular anyway. For those who will be watching, ENJOY!

Stampsgal......I love the lyrics to Pop Goes the Camera too. He had a pretty good insight to the whole star/celebrity thing from the get go. I think if it were reworked some musically etc. it might could have been released as a pop song. Some of the lyrics are so Adam....."I've got drive, so I'll survive.....look at me, look at me in a magazine...I'll inspire, they'll admire......etc." I always think of myself or the fans with the part " cross promotion, cross the ocean, I'll make bank off their devotion" Adam, glad my devotion contributed to your "making bank"....lol.

I have been praying so long for Adam to get a break-out acting role that will open up new opportunities for him, just like what happened for Jennifer. She got that role in Dream Girls and it changed her career completely. She is doing more acting; she is getting those "judge" type jobs, etc. She has found her way into more of an inner circle of celebrity. That role allowed her to not have to rely solely on recording music and promoting albums and singles and trying to do tours. Recording her own music can be a side-issue for her. Putting out new music of his own and touring may always be the main focus for Adam, BUT I want that same opportunity for Adam that Jennifer got. The Judas role could give him a really good push. It's on network TV in front of a large, broad audience. It could lead to other roles, just like JH's Dream Girls role led to other roles for her. Hey, I'm not even a big fan of her. But I admire how she has stayed focused and worked hard. BUT, she did get that one lucky break that moved her career to higher heights. IMHO, apples and oranges Can't compare Adam to Jennifer....very different on many levels .If you think the music business is homophobic ,the movie business is worse..THey keep using straight actors to play gay folks.. Like they used to hire white actors to play African American parts I would also love to see Adam do all that you mention I believe he,at this point, has a harder time than Jennifer even though He is multi-talented and gorgeous .. Did you read the article by Justin Tranter, this morning that I put on Adamtopia. Adam didn't get to sing for Geroge Michel on national TV or invited to do honors for Elton John, although Sam Smith will do so. Adam is doing incredibly well, especially for being himself, sexy ,talented and no holds barred.BTW It took many lifetimes for African Americans to get great roles on TV and in movies. It didn't happen over night.. Adam is a pioneer

But Judas most likely won't show much in the way of acting skills configured as a rock show. I don't expect much to come of it follow up wise for acting and I do expect quite a bit of flack for casting a gay guy. It will be cool but it will be a wash as far as expanding to acting. But I do hope for interviews in March which would be cool.

Geeez... my heart just dropped a little... her belting does nothing for me. Not an easy day for me today as "excellence in music" gets awarded yet again...

Mainly because if that's what expected to happen then Adam will not be cast in the first place IMO. The concert setting usually does not require much acting anyway, and we know Adam can emote better that anyone :D ... as far as the cast announcement - the timing is looking problematic at this point, between the Grammys press this coming week, the SB press next week and then the Olympics...it would be interesting to know what the NBC's promo strategy is...

I don't know where to post this, but I wanted to say hello and that I am a fan of Adam's from his Idol days. I got busy with life and fell out of touch with how he was doing from around 2010, but I recently have recalled how much I love him and have been trying to catch up on his life. There's so much!! It's been so wonderful to read about him becoming Queen's front man (such a pie-in-the-sky fantasy of mine back during Idol days!), to discover his second and third albums and all of the other things he's done, and just to see that he is still the super nice human being that I fell in love with during Idol. As a member of the LGBTQ community, it's really inspiring for me to see how open he has been from the get-go, living his life with integrity despite it costing him radio play and other opportunities in some areas, and how he puts himself out there with his visibility and how he talks so patiently and so articulately to the media about various issues we deal with. He's the reason I was able to have my own conversation with my father about being bi. Back when I last was following his news, it was frustrating since he was still dealing with such flack over the AMAs and having people on all sides trying to police his behavior and image. The long view of history can be a gratifying one. Also, on a shallow note, it's fairly rewarding to see that people of all orientations and genders now recognize him as a gorgeous man, which he always was on Idol but got half the recognition for it that he deserved. Reading about how well regarded he is in the industry is probably my favorite thing of all, given how much buzz he had back during Idol and how I was hoping that they wouldn't forget him after he lost. They sure haven't! How amazing to see the love from Brian and Roger, especially! I still can't quite grasp the fact that 1) he's actually Queen's frontman and 2) he's winning over grudging, grumpy, hardcore Queen fans city after city after city... You go, Adam! I hope I can see him on tour again--it's been so long since I saw him (2009/2010). Anyway, this is becoming a ramble, so I'll shut up. But I wanted to say hello to fellow Adam fans and to also say thank you for having this archive of news that you have here. I hope it's okay for a new/old fan of Adam's to join in discussions from time to time.

Adam is a pioneer Along those lines, here is an article from 2016 on the rise of Sam Smith. It still stings. And not because it sings the praises of Sam (not jealous of Sam and his success, lol) but because it shows the hurdles Adam had and still has to jump thru. Sam Smith’s Pop Rise: How a UK Soul Man Came Out and Still Became America’s Next Top IdolAdam Lambert hung on to his burgeoning fan base but only had modest success as a recording artist after coming out as a gay man in 2009, three weeks after coming in second on American Idol. Although his second album, 2012’s Trespassing, made him the first openly gay singer to score a No. 1 album on Billboard‘s Top 200 chart, it didn’t even go gold. Frank Ocean earned critical acclaim and Grammy attention after revealing that he’d once fallen in love with a man before the release of his 2012 debut album, channel ORANGE, but that didn’t translate to blockbuster status for the merely gold-selling ORANGE or Jason DeRulo-sized hit singles. But still, why Smith and not Adam Lambert, who at one point seemed to be as poised on the verge as Smith is now? Timing, for one thing. Acceptance of gays has evolved in the five years since Lambert was the American Idol runner-up, with gay marriage no longer an out-of-reach dream but a reality for more than half of all Americans, and television brimming with gay representation. Also, unlike Lambert, Smith undersells himself. There’s no flash, no attention-grabbing antics, no controversy. (Lambert infamously kissed a male member of his band and shoved the face of another into his crotch while performing at the American Music Awards in 2009.) It’s hard to imagine baby-faced Smith making anyone squirm. www.huffingtonpost.com/jeremy-helligar/sam-smiths-pop-rise_b_5494920.html
