I was just wondering: where do you find things like total (including international) sales? Is there a website where you can search by song, album, or artist depending on what you're looking up, or is this information that the industry sort of keeps hidden somehow? I tried Googling it, and what I kept getting were news articles on "top sales" of the industry, rather than a way to search for any artist, song, album, etc. I found the RIAA site, but that doesn't list actual numbers, just when/if a certain song or album made gold or platinum and so on. Thank you for your help!  |

Thank you for your help! There is no site for this. The things we have are the numbers that get posted sometimes in press reports about new music or new albums. When songs or albums are charted you sometimes get more info, but I don't think there is any site or place where you can find everything. And yes certifications also give an indication about how much was sold, but that incorporates streaming as well nowadays. This site accumulates stuff for the big artists, but I don't know what their sources are. They did a nice piece about Queen in October which put Queen on the #4 spot in their ranking: chartmasters.org/2017/10/cspc-data-collector/16/ |
