Happy Birthday Chunkey and JJ! Chunkey, I have shoes older than you are. Your world view will keep you (us?) young! ;D Hey, guys, I sold my house in Indy last night! Thanks for everyone's good wishes. Back to job search, but interviews are increasing! ETA: sandysva-- I sold it to a soldier on R&R from Baghdad, soon to be separated from service. We struck a mutually good deal! Congrats!!!! I'm so glad it worked out so well for both you and the soldier. Meanwhile, here's hoping my house holds up through the weekend. Survived the earthquake, now here comes Irene. Hope you and others remain safe! Good night, Irene! And go out to sea already!

Survived the earthquake, now here comes Irene. Heard they were moving all ships capble of floating out of your area. [grin] I remember when Floyd came through sitting on the pier and watching them move a submarine still encased in scaffolding out of the shipyard and up the coast. Looked at my tech and went "Oh man, we're SO screwed!". That said, we *did* get out of there, but we were the LAST vehicles allowed through the tunnel; they shut it down behind us. Also remember driving through water so deep that an underwater branch took the bumper right off my car. Fortunately it was a rental. ;D

Really getting a little panicy living on Long Island and Irene coming up the coast. I usually don't worry and just prepare and wait. This one's got me worried though and the media isn't helping. How the hell would we ever get off this island? The LIE can't even handle the everyday traffic. Skeerd :-/

A larger version! God I love this photo <3 Ha, ha! I love Sauli's expression. "Ya, everybody, he's mine!" Yippie, heard it was Thomas Fogarty Winery which is really in the hills over San Francisco, I think. So. Bay area between Stanford and the ocean. Sauli thought the fog was clouds! Is Finland really flat?

I love the smug look on Sauli's face. You just know he's amused at the drooling and the cursing that will follow when everyone sees this.

How the hell would we ever get off this island? The LIE can't even handle the everyday traffic. Skeerd :-/ In all seriousness, if there's anything that would kill you to see waterlogged, move it upstairs. Check your flashlights NOW, and scatter them where you can find them in the dark. Make sure you have enough bottled water and nonperishable food to last for a few days...and that you have a manual can opener! If you're low on clean laundry, throw in a few loads in tonight. If you have pets that don't usually wear collars, now's the time to locate some and make sure the phone numbers on the tags are up-to-date. Then stack up a few books that you've been meaning to read forever, and leave out a few bottles of wine for when the rain hits on Saturday. Alternatively, you can see if Amtrak has any specials to Chicago! ;D
