I posted about this long ago, but I think it was probably at PF. My then 10yo son [...] did a whole speach on how Jackie Robinson had to be an amazing ball player to break into the major leagues. He had recently also read about Tiger Woods (maybe it was February = Black History Month?) and how he had to be one of the best golfers in the world in order to break the racial barrier in professional (and even amateur) golf. Those of us who have been female in mostly male professions have encounter this personally - we had to be far better than our coworkers in order to get the recognition, advancement, etc. If we were average, we were overlooked or even considered inferiour. I think Adam is well aware of this - he knows he is under the microscope and has to be "better" than the rest just to break through and be allowed to follow the profession he has chosen. Amazing son you have, pjd! So insightful. I also believe that Adam is well aware of this and chooses to push forward with positive energy and thought. He believes in his abilities and talent and is hopeful that he can't be ignored when the time is ripe. I believe he has good timing... |

Also wanted to shout out to my fellow Central Texans about our 70 days of triple digit heat. Woo hoo. Looks like we're going for an all-time record of 80+ days. Anyway, nice to meet you all, I don't know a lot of other Glamberts in RL and it's awesome to see so many Texans on this forum. Back at you juniemoon!!! We had a 3 inch rain today which as every West Texas girl knows means there were drops of rain 3 inches apart. ;D I read your great blog pieces and the Elvis comment gave me pause for thought. I hope Adam continues to stay true to his artistic vision and I as a fan will just enjoy what he produces. |
