GellyHAC = Hot Adult Contemporary. I think of HAC as soft rock, Daughtry, but then again there are actual soft rock and rock stations! :-/ Quite a few HAC stations are now playing CHR (Contemporary hit radio) (Top 40) stuff though too. And many CHR stations have now become very Urban (like KIIS LA.) Although, people with huge hits, like Taylor Swift or Gaga, or even Adele seem to cross over into all genres. Oh and a lot of songs that started on CHR go to HAC after awhile and get played FOREVER! I think this is where WWFM is getting it's spins now. Q3, is more of an expert on this, but if I can use 3 of Adam songs to explain the type of music... FYE, IIHY could be described as a CHR , in other words Top 40 material WWFM to me, is an HAC type song in my opinion that luckily, took off in CHR. Why? Great song and written by P!NK and thank you Z100 Sleepwalker is definitely HAC and IMO the main reason RCA may not have wanted to rlease it in the US is because they didn't wnat Adam to be labeled as an HAC artist. CHR spins sell the most singles. There are exceptions, but if you are getting a sh*tload of spins on CHR stations, your single has a very good chance of selling really well. ETA: Just read this post and I think I made it about as clear as mud! Q3, feel free to interject here! LOL!

DAMN!! I love all these song titles that we ninja and he continues to debunk. If they are alternate titles for the songs that did make the album OR real titles of songs that did not, I still really LOVE the titles and the tone. Damnit, Adam!!! I thought I got to that zen place where I could wait patiently, but nope. My zen has abruptly expired again.

So the way I see it, CHR has changed a lot the last couple of years. And I think that is what Adam said in his twitter party. "adamlambert Adam Lambert @ @selenebean at the end of the day- a great song is a great song. 16 Jul » adamlambert Adam Lambert @ @selenebean I honestly don't believe in limiting myself to one genre. All about throwing a few influences together like fusion." At least this makes sense to me.

A few weeks ago, someone posted a YT of a radio DJ on a mini-rant about complaints of playing the same songs over and over. His reply was that when he COULD take requests, guess what ... people requested the exact same songs. He basically threw the blame back on the listeners. That stopped me for a moment but after cogitating for a while, I realized that the only people who listened to his radio station must be people who want to listen to the same songs over and over or they would not be tuned into his radio station. So of course when he asked for requests he "got back what he gave away". Definitely chicken or the egg problem. DJ needs a lesson in logic. I then immediately forgot who he and his station were but remembered the problem. ETA: Great song title ... "So Close I Can Taste It" !!! Yeah, I love that. Same thing happened with a beauty magazine that didn't put an anorexic, airbrushed, 17-year-old one the cover one month, then when it didn't get the pick-up rate as previous issues, the editor threw up her hands and jutted out her hip and said, "See, that's what you want." Oh, okay, so we have one month or one day or five minutes to turn the tide of every way we've been conditioned for centuries and also, what is inherent in human nature? Young women are bombarded with images of "female perfection" from the moment their born and they gravitate to it. They are going to choose the toy or doll that is attractive to them even at the age of 1. But this nature is what is exploited continuously with surface over substance and ends up creating situations like "Toddlers & Tiaras," "The Kardashians," and millions of people (boys and men included) with self-image issues. I imagine the first wave of (probably young kids) doing the requesting are going to request the song that is on continuous repeat in their brain when asked. You don't shift human nature or media conditioning on a whim. It would probably take quite some time before the silent majority would speak up with the same fervor as the those "first responders." Think of it like the comments sections of articles. Do those people who speak first and most stridently represent the hundreds, if not thousands, who may read the article, but never comment?

And because he is so talented he doesn't have to box himself into one genre. I hope he never does! Kind of makes me think of P!Nk (Ya, I am a P!NK stan.) First single from Funhouse was "So What", definitely CHR. Her next single was "Sober." IMO, defintiely HAC but it got played on CHR too. The optimal exposure for a new single would be CHR and HAC at the same time. Think Lady Antebellum and that damn song "I Need You Now!" Of course, they had Country stations playing it too.

I know, you're so right!!! The radio station in Greece that I listen to, is playing ONLY classic rock and HAC like Daughtry, Pink,Nickelback, and they're playing Lady Antebellum!!!

Sooo, in Adam Time, that's either two weeks from next Tuesday or May 35, 2013??? Well, in light of not being blessed with Adam music, I'm going to do something REALLY exciting and throw out about 80 percent of the clothes in my closet and overhaul my entire bedroom. BRB, renting bulldozer ...
