E! News @enews Adam Lambert, Crystal Bowersox, Bo Bice, Phillip Phillips: Where are those American Idol stars now? eonli.ne/2Fp0L35ADAM LAMBERT If publicity were a prize, the eighth-season's controversial runner-up is a grand-slam winner. Since his time on the reality show, he's released two albums, headlined two tours, received countless nominations (including a Grammy nod) and has even starred in Fox's remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Not to forget that he briefly filled in as a guest judge on Idol. When he heard of the reboot of the show that boosted him to fame, the star told E! News' Marc Malkin, "I am excited to see the show. I obviously owe the show a huge debt of gratitude. It's put me where I am today. I think it's exciting." What an odd write-up, not even mentioning TOH or QAL? Then again, a lot of the write-ups are odd - I didn't read them all, but many are a mixture of clearly outdated info written as if it's current, with an actual current factoid tossed in. I don't care about Idol 2.0, and won't unless Adam turns up, but I'm loving all the mentions he's getting in the media about the reboot. Per Q3: Of all the many things we can blame RCA for, that decision wasn't one of them. RCA wanted to release WWFM as the lead single - it even briefly turned up on Adam Official as such - but if memory serves, Team!Adam wanted FYE because of the AMA performance opportunity. I get why Adam and his management wanted a song he could do more with than just stand there and sing, that would also break him out of the safe Idol shell. But I'll never understand why Adam, who knows his voice so well, didn't care more that it was so problematic to perform live (it was originally intended for Britney Spears, and lord knows it didn't matter for her purposes if it could be performed well live or not). It took years for him to finally be able to perform it credibly live, and even then it was never one of his stronger performances, IMO. If I had a time machine, I'd somehow deal with the pronoun issue with "Fever" and have that as the lead single. And I'll always wonder how "Sleepwalker" would have done if it had been a first or second single - he killed it vocally, and could also bring the drama when performing it. Not that it matters now, but "alternate universe" scenarios can be fun. We all have our song preferences and varied opinions how Adam's recording career could have taken off differently, but I think that FYE was too frisky right after Idol, and I agree that it doesn't support what Adam is best at... a smashing live performance that is strong in the vocal department. FYE is just not a vocally driven song, on the contrary it is difficult to perform live. I wonder what would have happened if Adam had performed WWFM at the AMAs as his first appearance after Idol, as WWFM became his first single. Well, he ended up performing it live a lot on tv anyways. For me, "Fever" should have been a single - tremendous song with a real fun hook and it just clicks when performed live, even without the kiss. About a week ago, when Adam asked us about his "defining" song, "Fever" came to my mind immediately. And even though I do not consider it his overall defining song, I think it highlighted era#1 and Glamnation. "Fever" is still my favorite on FYE, along with the bonus tracks.

Since things are really slow.....this has no connection to Adam other than he and Johnny Weir know each other...lol.....but this 13 yr old girl figure skater from Russia at the Jr World championships is a beast technically. She needs more artistic development, but 2 quads is very impressive. That quad toeloop at 0.48 is crazy, the spin is so tight. WOW!

Thanks so much for the link. Yeah, this one really gets to me. I liked it as well and so let her discography play through. She has a good sound and some very nice tunes.

And even though I do not consider it his overall defining song, I think it highlighted era#1 and Glamnation. "Fever" is still my favorite on FYE, along with the bonus tracks. "Fever" is one of my favorites from his first album, too. Such fun! Impossible to sit still while listening to it. As a dance song, I think that "Fever" is much catchier than FYE, and it highlights his vocals more, too. I can understand why he wouldn't want to come out with WWFM or any other ballad as his first single, since that would be expected of an Idol alum but also not representative of his style. What was the thought process behind FYE, though, I wonder? Relative to a song like "Fever" or "If I Had You"? If it was about the gendered lyrics, that would make me very sad. I hope he had the final say in it, at least. It always seems to happen with me that I don't like my very favorite artists' most famous singles (don't get me started on "Black Hole Sun"), but I don't really like WWFM or FYE. They are the least played of that album for me. Although I can appreciate that WWFM became as much a new artist's question to the world in the wake of the AMAs/Out Magazine/etc. as it was an angsty song that resonated broadly with lots of people on a personal level. I'm glad he had that song in that moment and that it took off successfully.
