Since the demographics of Americans seem to be getting older and living longer.. 29 is the new 20 .. so Adam has a lot more time.. and an older audience to appreciate his great talent. I think Adam may be the new great male pop singer, but I believe he will open the door for more male singers with vocal chops. This rap stuff has to wear out someday. IMHO He can do it all and I think he will, including theater, movies. Of course all I'm really sure of is that I miss him and wish he was on TV weekly if not daily. I respect your opinion, but rap is here to stay. It's been around for over twenty years now and shows no signs of going anywhere, whether you like it or hate it. Saying it has to wear out someday is akin to people back in the day saying how rock n roll was just a fad and would burn out. I'm sure it will continue to evolve--and truly it's nothing like it was back in the early 80's--like all music does, and who knows what it will sound like in ten, fifteen years....but it's an established and celebrated part of music now. It's not the new kid on the block. And whether or not rap stays popular has no bearing on Adam's success. Totally different genres, different audiences, etc etc. Just sayin. YMMV.

This tweete is being retweeted by many on my feed. I don't know who she is. Is she important? I saw on her site she was interviewed by Ellen. jodipicoult Jodi Picoult Impressed by @adamlambert, who has created a ltd edition pendant whose sales benefit @trevorproject. www.pennyroyalstudios.com. Jodi Picoult @jodipicoult author/mom/Wonder Woman www.jodipicoult.comJodi Picoult is an extremely succcessful best-selling novelist with a very large and loyal following. In other words: ETA: Picoult has sold over 30 million copies of her books. Also found great article about her and her gay son here: www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-1371108/Jodi-Picoult-reveals-felt-son-told-gay.htmlI love her books! She wrote Sisters Keeper, that was later made into a major motion picture and did pretty well at the box office. Many of her books are tear jerkers. My favorite book of hers is an oldie- The Pact.

Hi prism...and I hope you/he is right though, I really wasn't meaning it quite that he would have to...more like it is possible, with the right incentive, he may wish to as per [partially] his initial stated reasons for going on idol in the first place. Eventually, pop spits out the older members and they end up touring their old stuff or fading off into other ventures. Theatre, on the other hand, has many uses and places for mature performers....look at Jean Valjean/phantom/the Engineer/Sweeney Todd...there are as many roles for older performers as younger. Many mature pop and rock stars do not have the musical chops to do musical theatre but Adam does....that is more what I was thinking....I definitely should not have put in that "5 years" thing as that is not likely or appropriate...slip of the finger... :-/ oops my bad - you didn't say "have to" in your original post, I unintentionally twisted your words....sorry!!

I think we haven't begun to see what Adam can and will do. Yes, he wants to be a pop star, so I want that for him. But, he has such an extraordinary talent, I think that pop will eventually become too confining for his musicality and his voice. I think he will want something more challenging. (That is unless he reinvents pop to match the range of his voice.) What that might be, who knows, but it could include musical theater or even light opera. It could happen....

CM..You've got a good point about rap. IMHO,I think with the computer Pandora, pay for music and new avenues coming up in the future, everything will be in flux for a while. However, I think we will have more listening choices and lots of creative interactive musical experiences.. What say you??

It didn't take me too long to catch up fortunately (or unfortunately as the case may be). But the lull in news allows for some great conversation here. What cassie said makes so much sense. Adam has what few male pop stars have and that is options. If the pop thing doesn't work out for him, or if he does indeed get bored and wants to move on, the opportunities are practically endless. I have little fear that he will ever disappear from our sight. Or our sound. A bit more about my hurricane experience: No trees fell on my house or car! So that in itself is something to celebrate. There were 50 billion branches to clean up (I counted them) but that's minor compared to what so many have suffered. My worst experience was sleeping downstairs on the sofa (in case a tree fell on the house - LOL) and waking up in the morning to discover my cat had peed on the sofa WHILE I WAS SLEEPING THERE! This was not my avi cat. Max, the culprit: I wouldn't take up space with this OT stuff if it weren't so slow.

I think musical genres are pretty well established but it's just the way people enjoy and/or buy music is the thing that will continue to change dramatically. I can see in a few yrs easily there being all digital, no physical copies made anymore, with artists just releasing singles verses whole albums. But who knows? I am no expert. That's for the well paid music execs to figure out...really piracy and the the ability to purchase digital music downloads have totally changed the game and hopefully they can find the perfect balance to keep the artists making money. Jazz--OMG I LOVE YOUR CAT!! I like cats, but I have a huge soft spot for orange kitties...calicos? Is that what they are called? LOL. idk. Cute =)
