Interesting blog: αℓєкѕ @aleks_kv Social media in Adam Lambert’s life&careerhttp://aleksandrakv.tumblr.com/post/172516000733/social-media-in-adam-lamberts-lifecareer I really like this essay! Very insightful. Captures so many aspects of Adam's personality and persona. I kind of scanned it but will go back and read it more closely later. Adam is a gem.

Thanks for replying. How do you know though that the role was intended not to have gay overtones? Seems to me, the motivation of Judas' character is best explained if he's in love with Jesus, and Adam's interpretation makes plenty of sense. I don't think he said anything about sexual, he just said "he's in love with the guy". I believe Adam did get the role (and at that time started following all the guys that were part of the show and liking their posts), but when his management realized the terms and couldn't negotiate better terms, they decided to pass. That must be why Judas was chosen so late, because they had to start searching again. And when I say "terms", I mean the amount of exposure for Adam during the promo etc., but you're right, it could also mean that they had artistic disagreement about how to interpret the role. I guess a gay interpretation would take too much attention away from John. katycake , I too believe that Adam had the role and then something happened. The fact that Adam changed management soon after confirms those thoughts for me. Fingers crossed for more opportunities with the new management I was always under the impression, perhaps wrongly, that Judas did not view Jesus in a sexual way. I thought it was more his feelings of awe and fear and respect and love and reverence and a big dose of panic under the circumstances of the story. I could be wrong. Anyway, I only know what Adam said himself about how he would like to play Judas. If Adam was truly considered for the part and was on the verge of signing on and making it official, something went awry. And yes, that was probably why the final Judas was chosen so late. Maybe it did have to do with "terms of exposure" or something like that. He is wise to keep the reason to himself, at least for now. Brandon is reaping well-deserved benefits from getting the role. Adam is again standing in the "wait for next time" line.

OT but this morning they announced the Love Loud Festival in Salt Lake City which is an entire festival in support of the LGBTQ+ community. I know it's a longshot but I would love to see Adam added to the lineup! It's after the QAL dates overseas so you never know? They do say additional performers will be announced soon. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part to see Adam and Mike Shinoda perform at the same festival lol loveloudfest.com/Would be so cool! Loving Mike Shinoda's new stuff. Regarding Adam, I would kill hear him cover Crawling.

I wonder whether he knows this is a white-lined Sphinx moth. Spooky.

I didn't see any gay overtones in how Brandon played Judas. He nailed it just the way it was intended. And the "Judas Kiss" isn't supposed to be sexual, and it was not, IMO. Ironically, Adam has said more than once that he would like to have a chance to play Judas with sexual overtones toward Jesus. He said it once some years back in an interview, and he said it more recently in the long interview he had with Ru Paul. It's a possibility that Adam voiced this idea to John Legend and was told that this production would not portray Judas in that manner. Just a thought. I could be wrong, of course. This might have had nothing to do with Adam not getting the role. Brandon is getting so much positive feedback. Well-deserved, IMO. And I must express a little bit of childish jealousy on my part. I wanted so much for Adam to get this role and be on the receiving end of those exciting tweets and great reviews that would give him a real media boost. Brandon may be headed to some more big roles before long. And good for him. He earned it. I have been wondering if Adam chose not to do this because it was not in-line with his creative vision? Based on your post I went back and looked at the two interviews where Adam talked about the part and, specifically, about this idea about the Judas-Jesus relationship. I have heard this interruption of the Judas-Jesus relationships from some of my friends. So while it is not something that is in the New Testament, it is not just Adam's concept. ** I can't say much about JCS because I only watched a few bits of it -- and those parts were good except for John Legend. I was very impressed by Caiaphas/Norm Lewis. I didn't know him since I do not follow Broadway. And Brandon was very good.

I guess a gay interpretation would take too much attention away from John. I agree. I am quite sure it was not scheduling mainly because Adam would've just said "scheduling conflict" instead of using "was not for me" type wording in that insta party... I am staying with my "forth fiddle" scenario aka "terms". I just watched the recording and I have to say it is quite ridiculous to not give Judas at least the second top billing. Judas opens and closes the show, not to mention it's the key role in the story line. I loved the production and all the cast! The only weak points for me were John's attempts to sing high and Brandon's scream at the very end. The rest was awesome, Alice was great - I don't understand why he was criticized by some critics...I also had no idea Ben Daniels can sing (Pontius Pilate)...all supporting cast was outstanding imo. The costuming, the choreo, the stage design, the orchestra - all outstanding! with all that I missed Adam terribly...

I think it would be up to Andrew Lloyd Webber and the director to decide if the production had gay overtones or not. Exactly! As talented and wonderful as Adam is, he would know that expressing his desires to RuPaul about a production path for a role would not mean he would get to call those shots. Some went from him not being a big enough star to get a staring part on network tv (never believed that btw) to him dictating the direction of a character before getting the part. Things did not align for him this time. Other things have in the past and they will again in the future. I'm sure some in that cast would love to have Adam's level of success.

And I bet he would sound incredible in the piano ballad arrangement of the song they had been performing live last year.

I watched JCS and absolutely loved it. I thought Brandon was wonderful, but of course I had always hoped it would be Adam. It was hard to watch and not feel sad, because I also believe that Adam was upset about it. I think this is why all his friends gave him extra love on his birthday.
My friend told me near the end of December that Adam had the Judas part. When January was nearly ended without any word, I asked her again. She said it was now up in the air. At some point in between, something changed. I mentioned it today, and she said she had no other info. There have been layoffs at WMG.
I have a theory. I think maybe Lin-Manuel Miranda contacted Andrew L Webber and pimped Brandon. I noticed that he had been kissing ALW's ass on social media and that Lin's presence was in the air surrounding the production this last week. Just a hunch.

(and perhaps my favorite LP song). Would love to hear Adam's take. (hated the version Chris Martin did a few months ago)
