Every time I try to articulate answers to the "what is it about Adam?" question, I start getting all spiritual and new-agey and end up feeling pretty OTT and silly. But Michael Slezak wrote an article that even though it's about a specific performance, kind of sums up the Adam 'experience' for me. music-mix.ew.com/2010/02/13/kradison-concert-nyc-highline-idol/Adam part: The crowd seemed to suddenly double in size the moment Adam took the stage for a set that can only be described as insane on every level. There were moments when you'd have believed the season 8 runner-up was 11 feet tall, the way he stalked and preened through uptempo numbers like "Sure-Fire Winners," "Strut," and "If I Had You," and that's not even acknowledging the gyrations! Adam doles out the hip-thrusts, the neck-twists, and the open-palm-to-the-pelvis shenanigans with an almost Tantric quality: His raw sexuality is so much a part of his show, it should get billing as an additional member of his band. But the over-the-topness of Adam's act wouldn't work if he didn't have the vocals to match. On "Sleepwalker," "Soaked," and current single "Whataya Want From Me," it felt like the force of his instrument could've filled a football stadium (sans microphone). Part of the reason Adam inspires such rabid fandom, I think, is that he's so aggressively outre that he erases any feelings of ridiculousness his ordinary fans might feel when singing in the shower or dancing in front of the bedroom mirror or just generally dreaming of breaking out of the humdrum of everyday life. He's at once fantasy and wish fulfillment. Dis him, dismiss him, ban him from ABC -- the dude is having way too much fun to concern himself with such trivial slights. He's a modern-day Pan for our TMZ times. I only wish I had been there. I was at the Kradison concert and it was positively electric in that room when Adam was on stage. I've seen Adam perform live 8 times and this concert remains my all-time favorite. He was raw and loose and was having so much fun performing. GNT was great but the energy was completely different. My videos from that night (and some of the other concerts) are on my Youtube channel at: bit.ly/r6WT75I'm a little late responding about this but I can't wait for a revival of Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway--I'll be the first in line to buy my ticket. I saw the original Broadway production and it blew me away. Adam would be perfect as Judas but I would give anything to hear him sing Gethsemane (I Only Want to Know). I wore out two vinyl copies of the soundtrack of this show. BTW, when Adam sings, especially live, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. That's all it took for me to become totally hooked.

I wish I could say that it was Adam's voice that attracted me to him. It wasn't. My first memory of Adam is seeing him walk around the corner to audition. I remember a feeling going through me thinking I knew him. I thought this is the winner right here. There was something psychic going on here. It wasn't the first time for such thoughts since it has happened to me all my life-- this knowing about different stuff. It was like I had been waiting and he was finally here.
I liked his voice and loved watching him. I have never been a fan of anyone but my curiousity was peaked, and I continued to watch each week. What really hooked me was "Ring of Fire." My husband and I don't usually watch the same shows but that night we both got in bed ready to watch Idol as usual. When Adam started "Ring of Fire" and throughout the entire song, my skin was just humming. I had goosebumps all over me and felt higher than a kite. I was totally overwhelmed. This was the beginning of my obsession.
I always downloaded his songs each week and at the end of Idol made myself a CD to listen to while I cooked and worked around the house. I kept crying when he sang certain songs, and for weeks I couldn't figre out what was wrong with me and why listening to Adam had such an impact on me. It wasn't until I started reading some of the experts that explained how music and the voice can affect the brain and body of a person that I realized what had happened to me.
Forget when I finally saw him in person. I am totally obsessed, and it is the only obsession I have ever had in my life so I feel most of the time like I have an illness. I have learned to control the crying but sometimes when I put that CD on from Idol and he sings "One" or "My Change is Gonna Come," I find myself sobbing. Also, the songs he sang in Hebrew at that memorial for Bagin choke me up, as well as "Is Anybody Listening." There is something in his voice that makes me want to follow him anywhere, buy everything he is selling, and give him all my money. Also, "Come Home", "Mad World", "If I Can't Have You" bothers me too. I also think his version of "No Boundaries" is amazing
I can't wait for Album #2.

On a break, drive-by posting again. Sorry if this has already been posted, but I can't believe there was an interview (or part of one) I missed. And, of course, it's good. Words, Adam, more words. (AND NEW MUSIC ASAP!) from robininnyWow! Never saw this awesome interview b4. @adamlambert w/ Brian Douglas at Kentucky Center for Performing Arts youtu.be/bwq6A3JxRU0NOTE: This portion was only uploaded a month ago.

More on vocal ranges: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/7708522.stm"What we do know is most people are capable of three octaves. The average person could sing within this range with very good guidance from an expert." " Most classical singers who have been professionally trained are still within this three octave range. A modern day comparison to Yma Sumac is Mariah Carey. She has a multi-octave vocal range which can reportedly reach five octaves."

So, if Adam and Sauli are going to Bruning Man, do we think they will be driving up, with friends, in an RV? Or will they be flying to Reno and meeting friends who are already there? Or, driving up in the Mustang to meet friends or are they packing a tent and supplies in the car and going alone? From what I gathered from momtomany, camps are already well established by then, so if they go this weekend, I imagine they'd be joining an established camp. RVs can be on outskirts of the Playa. An longtime Burner on Twitter said they do have an airstrip, so they could take a small plane from Reno. If I had the $$ at my disposal, I'd either fly into Reno and rent an RV from there or fly in and join an established camp (with RV). Driving to Reno is a LOOONG day of driving – that would add two days to the trip, without taking Labor Day weekend traffic into account.

And after my last ridiculous post, ^^^, may I get a little serious here. To all our international members. You are all being so humble! Your command of the English language just blows me away on a daily basis. It is amazing! I have never felt that you are not writing clearly. And your world perspective about Adam and other things is priceless! One of the things I love about ATop is how international it is! Me, too. I rarely post anymore, but never miss a day checking out Atop. (I don't need to post bc everyone expresses exactly what I feel, but so much more eloquently.) I find it fascinating to hear from fans all over the world. Love you all.

Figure out why I'm obsessed with Adam? Good lord that could take days if not weeks. Is it his voice? I'm more a fan of female voices and actually perfer male voices to be gritty and raw. However, Come to Me Bend to Me never fails to give me goosebumps. Is it his looks? I like my men a little less pretty but Adam is gorgeous both with and without make-up. and that smile and those eyes are captivating Is it his humor? He does have a raunchy sense of humor so that's a plus Is it his charm? The one time I met him he certainly was a charmer Is it his intelligence? When he speaks all I can think is "say more words Adam" because I love to listen to him talk probably as much as I love to listen to him sing. Is it his loyalty to his friends and family? Yeah, that's pretty powerful, nothing is as attractive as someone who is loyal and generous to those around them. Is it his fashion sense? Man, I love to see what he's going to wear next. That is half the fun of stanning him because you just never know. Is it his charitible heart? I admire and respect anyone who gives of their time, money and energy to help others. Is it his honesty? I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone in the public eye as open and forthcoming as Adam is. He hides nothing, is ashamed of nothing and that's pretty damn amazing when public perception can make or break his career. In looking at my list of what it could be, what I've concluded is it's not any one thing that makes me obsessed with Adam, it's all those things combined which make an extraordinary human being and someone who is worth investing my time and energy into following because I find him fascinating and my fascination is rewarded with loads of entertainment. He never bores me or disappoints me that's for sure. AND, Nobody else in my life has ever made made my jaw drop as many times as Adam. So... the final test is the "jaw dropping" test and Adam wins it hands down and this includes both his vocal acrobatics and physical acrobatics. Vocals however are the most important! ETA: WELCOME carrieb

Adam said he wanted to play Judas In JCS, but I'd also like to hear his version of Gethsemane. This is my fav until Adam does it: No words 4MSRMYN.... unbelievable.... I was part of the backstage production of Superstar, years ago, and it is interesting that it is the only show that I am aware of that comes with no staging/set directions. Completely up to the director....

(LOL I wanted to write more but unfortunately I can't express my feelings the way I want to in English) haha. I know exactly what you mean. It' s like having a 25 ingredients recipe in my mind and only 5 ingredients on the table in front of me. If we ever meet, the two of us, I expect an at least three hours long non stop conversation. Plus all these rot/burn, fish, major talks (although I enjoy them a lot (thank you everybody) and I learn things) make me nervous: am I writing what I am actually thinking or will I be misunderstood? Hi csharpminor !!! Just got back home, long day today. Work sucks after vacation lol. Don't ever think of not PM ing me if you ever come to Thessaloniki right? And carrieb WELCOME!!
