4msrmyn, I went back and fixed the link to my post, but it doesn't matter, I guess. Thanks again for your work. s915.photobucket.com/albums/ac351/mezmirized/Adam%20Lambert%20-%20Burning%20Man/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ24 bit.ly/odmKGNI should have posted it when I found it. I don't know why the end of the link went dead. The bitly short link works, though. I didn't take those photos. They're not mine and when you post something on the internet, you never know where you'll see it again. I know that, but it still surprises me when I recognize something I've worked on.

I am always amazed at the amount of visual evidence of Adam before idol, wich begs the question how did he not get discovered in the many years before? Especially since he lived right there in the middle of it all. It's not like his talent just happened in the last two years. Surely he must have been noticed by someone! Adam wasn't really in the pop music business until Idol. He was a session recording vocalist -- that basically means you get a small check and little or no credit. Citizen Vein was not pop and only performed a few times. And that was his major indie recording effort -- still unreleased. No major label was going to take a risk on an untested clearly gay pop singer -- it costs >$2 million to break a new artist in the US. Adam was 26 when he decided to do Idol -- ancient in the pop music business. I think it was a great move for him to audition for Idol because without Idol I do not think Adam would have had a shot. ETA: Music business and theater is run out of NY not LA. Only some TV and some movies are in LA -- not really the best market for a singer. Generally better to go to NY to get "discovered" as a singer.

I am always amazed at the amount of visual evidence of Adam before idol, wich begs the question how did he not get discovered in the many years before? Especially since he lived right there in the middle of it all. It's not like his talent just happened in the last two years. Surely he must have been noticed by someone! I've wondered the same thing since I first saw/heard him. Think it's a combination of things. And as Adam says, "No one really gets discovered anymore." (Though after seeing that Dev video, I have to wonder ...) There are many who insist it's because he was openly gay and I definitely think that has a lot to do with why he hadn't been signed to a major label, even though he obviously has the voice, looks, stage presence and charisma. I think the primary issue may have been his shift in focus late in the game. He was so busy trying to make a living in musical theater that he may not have realized his passion for it had waned. Then when The Citizen Vein came along, they were still trying to find their sound, build a base of originals, etc. while Adam was in "Wicked" and Monte was touring with Madonna. Adam even said they only did a few gigs. Then with his other more poppy originals, he was trying to find his own sound/identity and that was still in the growing phases. The fact that Adam is so good at so many things can be a blessing and a curse, especially when you're trying to make a living as an artist in Hollywood. You have to go where the paying gigs take you and doing eight shows a week makes it really difficult to pursue other interests. You're exhausted, probably having fun and making ends meet, so it's tough not to claim your downtime as your downtime. What baffled me is how he didn't get the lead roles in the theater productions. I remember one of the first things I read when I first started googling him (I think after TOMT) was on Broadway.com and they were talking to other musical theater actors who had worked with him in the past. According to the comments, he was known then as an unbelievable singer, even among the best theater singers out there. One person told the story about how they were supposed to meet him and work together. Someone asked, "Have you heard him yet?" First person: "No." Second person: (Something to the effect of) "You are going to be blown away." Someone else talked about hearing him through the walls of a rehearsal hall for the first time and saying, "Who the hell is THAT?"

Ha, ha! Maybe my taste is not as good as I thought. You and I is my favorite song on Gaga's album! I love that it is not the old, normal, "stale" Gaga! Oddly BTW is my fav song on her new album -- but I love Madonna so it was certain to be a hit with me. I had a long drive yesterday and listened to a lot of radio -- every time "You and I" came on I switch stations. It is in very heavy rotation here and has already burned out for me. JMHO -- this Gaga era is not as original or good as Fame/Fame Monster. I really believe that Poker Face and Paparazzi will be played in 10 years but this album will be forgotten. But maybe it is just too much Gaga and over time and with less hype I will appreciate this album more. I'll get back to you in 2021!! ETA: I think Katy Perry's Firework is a really good song, clever lyrics and just plain fun. I guess my taste is questionable too because I like California Gurls. There really needs to be a place for fun pop songs -- a lot of people who buy music are 14 or wish they were. So listening to You and I on the radio yesterday, Nebraska was edited out and Gaga was singing "Oregon" instead -- and it was more than a one word replacement, significant parts of the chorus were completely done over by her. Anyone else heard their state shoutout? I guess it's a unique PR ploy. Corny, but that seems appropriate to the song? (though I've seen a lot more wheat and range land than corn in eastern Oregon) www.propagaga.com/2011/08/25/lady-gaga-releases-customized-state-versions-of-you-and-i-to-radio-stations/
