All round, Adam should fit in well in this chart -- and I think it may be more friendly to an Adam Lambert song than 2009. In addition, there will be no issue with playing a song by a gay artist since WWFM proved listeners and advertisers do not care.

Note: Mediabase CHR panel changed on 9.1.11 and 2 stations were removed so update numbers will be odd this week.

Those are cool...I remember reading the stylists blog about each weeks shopping excursion...not just Adam, but he was really into shopping w Adam because he knew what he wanted each performance to portray (unlike the others, lol)...he spoke about MW and how Adam was v specific about wanting light colors. Does anyone have those saved by any chance?

True!! LOOOVED your essay, NoAngel and it is so true. I've researched play therapy quite a bit and it's fascinating. Licensed play therapists are very emphatic that play is a child's "work." It is also their best means of communication. If you sat a young child on a couch and asked him to share his feelings, he would likely look at you with a blank stare. Not to mention, they don't usually have the emotional maturity to put the feelings into words. But if you give them a variety of toys with which they can "act out" their emotions, they will reveal volumes.

Interesting about the concept of creating to destroy. I think that is at the heart of all artists' struggle. Once we've decided to "pursue art seriously," we feel that every single thing we create from that moment on needs to be representative of our entire worth as an artist. (We get this largely from our arts education programs where students critiquing other students is standard.) The pressure becomes so great (especially from within) that it can derail entire careers quite easily.

TV competition shows that ridicule anyone for even attempting art without nailing it add to that sense of shame that Julia Cameron writes about so beautifully in "The Artist's Way."

I could go on and on, but I do love that concept of Burning Man. It HAS to be very liberating for the artist to know they can create with abandon because in the end, it is not permanent.

I've really been in awe of Adam during this entire process because he is so certain. And this is the kind of pressure that can cause many artists to freeze because there are so many variables to consider and so many conflicting obligations and expectations bombarding him from all sides – from fans, to his label, to his personal world, to the capricious market ...

And through it all he has not only been able to create, but create something he feels is amaaaazzing!!! That's huge.

That is interesting. I had a meeting at a Starbuck's-like bakery and coffee place and "Someone Like You" came on the piped in music. The woman I was meeting with said, "I love this song" out of the blue. Up until then, we really hadn't been aware of the music playing.

Also trippy about Foster the People; I have KROQ right above KIIS on my car presets and they are polar opposites (a song being played on KIIS would usually warrant a permanent eviction from the KROQ playlist, with all traces of it ever being played thoroughly eliminated), but I have switched from one station to the other and heard "Pumped Up Kicks" back to back. EXACTLY!!! Talk about a creative mind.... noangel..... your are right there with him in your own way.... I take delight in engaging in this forum, lurking when busy or dropping a note when "hit with" I have to respond!!
I treasure the minds, the thoughts, the wisdom, the fun, the playfulness..... and the list goes "on and on and on" (what song was that?!?)

Yesterdays thread showed me my lack of knowledge about songs of "my day". Heard them...loved listening, didn't care who sang them, never really bought much music, usually it was oh I liked that one. I am still narrow in my knowledge of music, I just know I pay more attention to the pop charts/music as an "oldster" than I did when I was a "youngster". Adam was my change, the catalyst for revitalizing a love for music I have always had but making it brighter and "shinier" now! I plan to go back when time allows to listen to yesterdays thread full of youtubes of some of the best ...for whatever the mood. Love the energy of yesterdays thread.

And re visiting Sauli's blogs all together makes his story telling even more entertaining. Thanks for the work on this.

Adele's success prove that a song that features vocals can be #1. Her follow-up single is now Top 20. That is good for Adam.

Also notable that the charts looks like it will be opening up. A lot of songs out now will be mature by October, and there really are no new CHR songs on the Sept radio add list that are from huge Pop Divas.
(I think that big pop divas are Adam's primary competition.) Here is FMBQ's September add list:
