Been gone without wifi for three days, so I'm kind of lagging behind in this discussion about QAL and Adam's professional priorities, Queen-fatigue, etc. So I'll just say that QAL has been much more a BENEFIT for Adam than it has been a hindrance. Sure, it has taken up a lot of his time, but that QAL time has given his major world-wide exposure, accolades and money. And it will NOT last a whole lot longer, as Brian and Roger decide they no longer want to continue it. Adam has to squeeze every ounce of benefit from it while he can. His name will forever be linked with this legendary band. Many Adam fans watch every song of every QAL concert. I know I usually do. But most regular people do not. And the people who attend the concerts do not. It's a huge part of Adam's career RIGHT NOW, but not FOREVER.
We'll never know how his career would be going now without QAL. He certainly would have had to focus totally on his own music and he likely wouldn't be as wealthy. Who knows. Post-QAL reality will set in at some point. He knows what he has to do. Create music. Get it played. Market himself in many different ways, musical and non-musical. He's a dreamer and an artist, but he is also a realist. He is not naïve. Record labels and management companies come and go for many artists. It's common. I follow Adam for many reasons. His music is just one of them.

Audio Game - Day 6 Song: Another One Bites The DustAs I mentioned last Fri/Sat, we have 2 HQ recordings for the 2018 London O2 shows. Each recording has different characteristics. We made a mix of the 2 recordings which we hope is better than each of the 2 recordings individually. To evaluate the success of the mix, we would like to play a little game. Each day I will post links to 3 audio files for the same song, one from each of the 2 recordings and one from the mixed recording. I'm not going to tell you which is which - they will be marked "A", "B", & "C" and it will change daily. I'm also not going to tell you which O2 concert the files are from. What I want from you all is to give me feed back on what you think of each recording. My feelings will not be hurt by any negative feedback on the audio. We are looking for honest feedback so that we can make the processed recordings better. I've uploaded the files in 3 formats: M4A, MP3 & FLAC. (FLAC is the best quality!) Choose which one you like. Each link will take you to that 1 song on Mega with a very prominent download button. For the M4A files only, you can also play the song directly on the Mega page!(Direct play might not work on Macs.) Please give the following feedback in the thread: 1) Which version do you like best & 2nd best? And why? 2) Which format did you listen to, FLAC, M4A, or MP3? 3) Did you listen on a PC or on a Smartphone? 4) Did you listen using speakers, headphones or earbuds? If speakers, was it the speaker on the PC or a better speaker? If you want to guess which recording is mine, Nick's, or the mix, please send that to me in a PM. I'd like to get everyone's reaction to the recordings before saying which recording is which. M4A - Play and/or DownloadAnother One Bites The Dust - AAnother One Bites The Dust - BAnother One Bites The Dust - CMP3 - Download OnlyAnother One Bites The Dust - AAnother One Bites The Dust - BAnother One Bites The Dust - CFLAC - Download OnlyAnother One Bites The Dust - AAnother One Bites The Dust - BAnother One Bites The Dust - CP.S. This is the 6th out of 8 songs in the game. At the end of the game, I will give a full review of the feedback, including which recordings A, B, & C refer to. B>C>>>A On my tablet in M4A mode with speakers, B sounded rich while A came off muffled and flat. C was similar in quality to B but had a slightly odd imber to it which gave the edge to version B.

Adam loves to perform on a large scale and Queen gives him that opportunity. I suspect a lot of us remember fondly the Glamnation tour with lots of stops in small theatres. I think I managed to catch 5 shows in the area without even having to take off from work. (I'm in the NJ area.) I've since caught a couple of Adam solo performances and a couple of Qal ones. I will go to Vegas w my hubby in September, b/c, well, we're in our sixties, and we've never been, so this could be very interesting. Looking forward to whatever Adam has next in store for his solo work. Although if it is one-off Cali casino thing, not likely for me. Also, last year, I went to a David Cook concert in a small theatre in the next town over from me. I'm sure that Cook is making a decent living, but at one point, David made comments to the locals complaining about his fans standing up and dancing (obstrucint the locals' views.) The manager of the theatre came down and threatened to throw David out for using the f word. DC ended up apologizing. Can't see Adam embarking on a solo career that would require him to rein himself in.

This board is a place to express opinions about all things Adam related. As long as it is not done in an insulting or demeaning or obscene way. But, if you post, you can predict that someone will disagree with you, or see things from a different perspective. They are not attacking you or your opinions, they are just expressing their own, like you were.

Probably too late to the party, but what the hell. IMO, people need to remember that it's perfectly possible for fans to recognize the many benefits Adam gets from the QAL collaboration, yet still be "over" it for themselves. 2017 was almost completely QAL, and we're over halfway through 2018 and it's been more of the same. For those fans who aren't so much into QAL - and FWIW I don't remember a requirement that one be a Queen fan when I filled out my fandom application - there haven't been many current projects to get excited about for quite a while. I totally get why Adam has devoted so much time to QAL, and would never dream of going on Twitter or Instagram to criticize him for it, but that doesn't mean I get excited when yet another QAL project is announced while his solo projects are still so indeterminate where timing is concerned. Not saying there aren't reasons for it. Not saying he has anything to justify or apologize for. Just saying that it isn't fair to try to stifle people from expressing their frustration about this long stretch of All QAL, All The Time while in the relatively safe confines of a fan board. It's better than complaining on Twitter or Insta. The purpose of boards like this one is for conversations between fans, not for conversations directly with Adam, or Brian, or whomever. If they decide to read here, that's on them. I haven't seen anyone be insulting - just ready for Solo!Adam again. When people stop caring about getting solo projects from Adam, that's when he needs to start worrying. This isn't directly related, but it brought to mind the objections some expressed about less-than-positive comments about Adam's facial hair situation - that we don't really have the right to say anything because he's on his own time right now. If commenting on photos that Adam poses for while out in public, in the knowledge that they will almost certainly make their way to social media, is considered invasive and overstepping, where are the objections to the lengthy conversations about the layout and furnishings in Adam's home that are often prompted by social media postings from friends or acquaintances who don't even tag Adam, but are discovered because some fans make it their business to follow everyone who has ever breathed the same air as him? Or what about the speculations about his personal relationships prompted by those same sort of social media posts? I understand why conversations like that happen - it's what fans do - but a little consistency would be nice. IMO the problem lies with any criticism of Adam, not with invasion of privacy issues. Different kettle of fish. Yes!!! And I have been "over it" for a year now. Respect Queen, but I have never really been a fan in the first place. And that should be ok. Lately this feels like more of a Queen board then an Adam board. But I accept it, it is what it is
