I don't post often and I wasn't going to comment on the Adam/Freddie thing but I changed my mind. I have been a Queen fan for around 37 years since I was 7 years old and Freddie's voice and their harmonies is what sucked me in. Yes, Freddie has been dead for almost 27 years but he is arguably one of if not the most iconic frontman In rock history. Freddie is loved by people around the world including many people in the US and I think that is indisputable. However, Queen was four people and despite what the haters who never wanted the band to continue think, the show did go on as Freddie wrote. It is outright slander for so-called Queen fans to crucify Brian and Roger for continuing on and is completely unfair to them. Without knowing him or ever seeing him live I think Freddie would have been damn proud of his surviving bandmates and the legacy that they have carried on. I am guessing Freddie would have loved Adam and it is impossible to compare their voices other than to state that Adam is technically superior by far. Their voices are completely different and whose is better is strictly opinion. Personally, I think they are both amazing for entirely different reasons. Nonetheless, I understand the need for Adam to reference Freddie and honor him but I am hoping he can change up the speech next go around. I have seen QAL 17 times so I am as big of a fan as anyone. Adam is astoundingly amazing and mind-blowing. Coming from the Queen side I have massive respect for the legacy that Freddie created yet have equally massive respect for the legacy that QAL has created over the past 6+ years. There are days that I want to hear only the original Queen tunes and other days where I only want to hear QAL. Nobody strikes lightning twice as I recently told a friend but since Brian and Roger founded the band and hired Freddie and then hired Adam, they made history and we are all witnesses. Just my two cents. Thank you for your great post. You say it perfectly. Queen's music lives on in all its glory with the best band members it could possibly have. No reason not to embrace it and love it. These live QAL shows are a precious gift that we cannot take for granted.

I love both incarnations of the band for separate reasons.

![](http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/xx348/Quu3/Adam%20Smilys/adamthumbsup.gif) Thank you all for your support and understanding! This is a great place to hang out. Let's give you a new chore. How hard is it for Adam to sing Heartbreak Hotel? How does it compare to Runnin', and just for the heck of it did Freddie go that low (I know they usually sang a different Elvis song)

Adam looks great in that RC photo but the suit fit seems a bit off?!? Particularly the pants. Odd for Adam who is usually in perfectly tailored clothing. I don't think Adam and suits have ever been a good match and never perfect. I think there was maybe one years ago and that's been it for me. So I wish he'd do more his style (2 great ones to choose from Las Vegas) and less someone else's suit.

I love Adam in a well-fitted tux. He's worn a few. Adam in a great tux is swoon-worthy.

How does it compare to Runnin', and just for the heck of it did Freddie go that low (I know they usually sang a different Elvis song) Thanks for the distraction. Freddie didn't sing HH, of course. But Jailhouse Rock he did, and it is in the same key with similar melodies. It just doesn't go as low. I think Freddie has a naturally lower voice than Adam's. Don't care to listen to a lot of songs to determine if that is true, but I have read that. Adam's upper range in full voice (not falsetto) is higher than Freddie's. As to the difficulty of HH, not so much. Basically it ranges from E3 to E4, just one octave, with a couple of brief touches down to a B2 and up to a G4. (octave and a half) Easy peasy for Adam, though that low B2 is at the very bottom of his performance range. The melody is simple with no complicated runs. It is sung in very short phrases only about 3-4 seconds long, so breath support and control are easy. However, Adam is not content to just sing a simple little song. So the third time around the verse he takes the melody up to new heights, riffing up to an E5 (the same as the glory note he glides up to in UP). That is something neither Elvis or Freddie could do in full voice. As for comparing it to Runnin, Runnin is much more challenging. The tune stays in the low range for longer, with more sustain, and more power than HH. Then the melody gradually climbs higher and higher until it sits around A4. At the end, it glides up to a D5, a note short of the high note in HH. The phrases are smoother and longer, requiring better breathing and support techniques. HH has a very simple melodic line that repeats again and again. It has no bridge, no alternate, secondary melodic line for contrast. Runnin has a complex melody line with little repetition of phrasing. And, overall, it is sung with much more power than HH. Hope that answers your question?

Yes, I've really noticed the arc that Adam puts in every song, whether written that way or not. With HH is the basic simple stuff from back on the stage, then 2nd time does the "move", then third time adds riffs etc. Builds with intensity for WWLF through three iterations I think too.
