Before we judge the AMA‘s choice , we should wait, what is really going on. Maybe QAL is really not available (only one of them could be unavailable and they can‘t perform). Or they don’t want to. Brian and Roger simply don’t jump onto any possible performance. They do have a lot on their plate with the upcoming movie. And who knows, what Adam is up to. I agree! I’m sure B&R ain’t going to jump at any and every offer... IMHO

If the meaning of the performance is to tribute Queen, then asking the acting touring band doesn’t really make sense.

Panic at the Disco is very good but I find this insulting to Adam and Queen. The AMAS sure seem to hold a grudge. That thought crossed my mind too. So much for my thinking that the BR movie would bring more attention to Adam as the frontman for Queen today. WTF was I thinking? Of course others would benefit and not him. When he blew the roof off the place at Iheart many publications were talking about Nate and even the parts shown on US tv had Nate's performance included when the could only show parts of the Queen set. Didn't matter that Nate's performance with his own group was also shown. Adam's best performance of WWTLF was left out. I'm not a watcher of award shows, but I believe they sometimes hold tributes to divas or singers/groups that are still alive, do they not? It shows appreciation to the old timers, and gives other singers a chance to cover these well-known songs. As for the iHeart performance - if the press emphesized Fun, it's probably because they were already very well-known, having had a hit song or two of their own by that time. If Adam had success with his own songs, he'd also have all these opportunities. I don't believe the AMA people have 'grudges'; they did invite Adam to present 2 years later, and his profile wasn't particulary high at that time. They are motivated by money, not personal feelings. I'm sure they'd invite him to perform if he had a big enough hit.

QAL were wonderful on the EMA tribute to Freddie. It wasn’t a tribute to Freddie. Queen was honored with the „Global Icon award“. Then, as a surprise, they performed at the end of the show. But I agree, that QAL could very well perform themselves, if they were available. I don’t see it „more wrong“ than any other band performing their music. QAL is much closer to the old Queen than any other band. Naturally.

Why would the AMAs being doing a tribute - is Queen the only band being tributed? However - what if they were being awarded something and Adam accepts the award? I think that would work. Brian & Roger may have had enough of the US for awhile, why not let Adam do some of the leg work?
And a questions - I can't tell on the color of Adam's shirt last night but the pattern looks like the shirt we've seen for nine years (even loaned to several friends) Is it the same one or a new camo colored one?

QAL were wonderful on the EMA tribute to Freddie and Global Icons. Brian and Roger bill themselves as Queen. Queen + Adam Lambert. If AMAs wanted a tribute , they themselves cannot do it, unless you say the entire QAL tour is a queen tribute, which is silly. If they were asked to perform they could have turned it down, which makes the AMAs look for a tribute and leaves Adam out. I can’t see Adam tributing them as a solo act while still touring with them. EMAs were giving them an award (iirc), made sense for them to perform themselves.
