OMG...the Playmobil movie sounds awesome!!! also Meghan Trainor and DANIEL RADCLIFFE??!!! Suuuuuuuper exciting!
I went to see his play "Cripple of the Inishman" on Broadway in 2014 when I did my trip to the US and LOVED it. He showed me my live in that play (at that moment). So moving. And of course I've seen and read all Harry Potters and own the DVDs/Books
Off topic...since I'm on exciting news (for me) I found out today, that Emma Watson (Harry Potter, Beauty and the Beast, The perks of...) whom I've admired in my youth and I still love the way she is handling her celebrity, is playing alongside Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird) and Timothy Chalamet (also Lady Bird) who I have totally fallen in love with since 'Call me by your name' for his acting and his depth and I CAN'T wait for 'a beautiful boy' (It's out this friday in the US) in 'little woman'. Which will be directed by Greta Erwig (again Lady Bird)
sorry...I just love those little connections and actors and singers who I like working together.
I am excited about all these things too.

Urie did a good job. Apparently, PITD has performed BR many times. They're a good band. There is no sense is arguing about who is a "better" singer. The criteria is so different from one type of singer to the next. Adam has great technical skills as well as a superb stage presence and showmanship. And he's very versatile. Some singers can't sing in in different genres very well, but he can. I do have one frustration when I hear another singer sing a song that Adam has sung. My frustration is that the people listening to this "other" singer (and enjoying him very much), have probably never heard Adam sing the same song. So they don't know what they're missing. Urie's voice is not as strong and rich as Adam's. He can't go for those full glory notes. He compromises because he knows he has to. Adam doesn't have to. But Brian and Roger are not going to replace Adam with Urie. LOL They have the gem they want, their GFG. PITD deservers all the praise they are getting from that performance. I just wish more of the viewing audience could see Adam sing that song. We Glamberts know full well how Queen purists feel about Adam. They aren't comfortable with anyone else but Freddie singing Queen songs. Sometimes we feel their pain just a little.
Well said. Perspective is everything sometimes.. I was completely unaware of Urie and the existing comparisons with Adam, but I think my Glambert heart can handle the praises that he has received for BR. I am fully aware that he could only pull of select Queen songs and not sing the whole Queen catalogue as Adam does so splendidly. Brian and Roger sure know what a gem they have in Adam. I was aware of the comparisons, I even mentioned it here on on an old post that there are people who thought Dimash, Urie, and Mika could do Queen better than Adam. www.adamtopia.com/post/866960 Since then my curiosity got the best of me so I tried to be objective so I went and listened to quite a few videos of Urie's. Unfortunately, I didn't feel anything. But can see how some people like him. I have the the same feelings about Mariah Carey as you do. Great vocalist but I don't feel anything. ETA: I reread my old post. People were commenting on a Korean singer who could do Queen better. Comments about Dimash was that he was a way better singer than Adam on TSMGO, in general, and had the best voice in the world.

I must have missed your post. I am trying to stay away from the frontman competitiveness as I realize that all fan groups are invested and not objective. I know what I like though Adam is Adam and to me no one compares. But I enjoyed Urie's BR.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=9L6pnx2GiUAThis is recent - September. He lives in Astana. I am posting this so as to give an understanding. The perception of vocal quality, etc is personal for many reasons. I love music and feel there is room on this planet for many. Adam is not less because of other talented voices, but he is more, as there are but a handful that are remarkable.

ETA: I reread my old post. People were commenting on a Korean singer who could do Queen better. Comments about Dimash was that he was a way better singer than Adam and had the best voice in the world. Any statements of he kind 'Best singer in the world' normally do nothing more but utterly disqualify the writer. For the whole world of internet 'experts' who apparently have decided that a singer's quality is determined by range, well, Dimash has indeed an astounding and to my knowledge unmatched range. And he does have solid control over that huge range, so he is certainly up there with the best of them, is fully classically trained, and not only flexible in range, but also shows versatility and accuracy and consistency. He is a power house.
He is worth getting checked out by anyone interested in high tenor voices. He is in that Fach for all those that don't quite fit into the 'box' called 'lyrical tenor'. I personally have always nick-named it coleratura-tenore, and Adam has made me even more convinced that this Fach should exist. Adam is not alone in that, of course, but he is one of them, so is Dimash. It is natural that people compare.
Having said that, Dimash leans stronger classical than Adam does, and does not have the same rock edge, even though he can certainly belt. In other notes: He is a Muslim singer from a conservative country (Khasakstan), and does not quite have the liberties that Adam is accustomed to, if he does not want to be thrown from some tall building or something. He therefore represents the rather traditional space of family values, representation of his country in the world, and east-meets-west, a topic that Khasaks have represented for generations. At least for now that is what Dimash does. His love songs tend to be tragic in tone, through-out.
Dimash is still young and just like Adam, he has to learn when to reign it in, rather than when to show off. He has still room to grow on the interpretative side, but some of the recent material, well past the singing show he got discovered on, is indeed astounding.
If you want to check him out, I recommend for range, a French song called 'SOS', on the show 'The Singer'. For East-meets-West, you might want to check out his cover of Lionel Richie's song 'Hello'. What I cannot recommend is to check out his version of the Show Must Go On. The TV show jumped that song on him, when Dimash neither knew the song, nor knew enough English, nor identified with the song, then they created that stupid arrangement for him, and so Dimash compensated by throwing high notes at it, and well, it was not terrible, but sure did not represent the maturity he normally shows. And it did not do TSMGO justice. No worries, Adam owns this song these days.
But nevertheless, Dimash is a fantastic singer, and I have no problem with anybody who says so.
And the Korean singer you mentioned? Could it have been Lee Hyuk?

Wonder if any Glamberts will be in the audience tonite. The only one I can think of is Alibabbee (sp.) She's young enough and lives in the area. I don't follow her so IDK her plans. Hope somebody gives up some info on the filming. twitter.com/iMJulianM6/status/1050194406345662464

Oh, yes, Dimash is a wonder for sure! His name is thrown around queen land often, especially by the Russian fans... he did TSMGO (interesting interpretation but hard for me to swallow tbh): youtu.be/ul3kpE1qcow
