Just a quick note following up on some posts earlier today.
I mentioned I had been thinking about giving Adam's Pennyroyal Peace Pendant (for Trevor Project) to a group I work with (basically a quite young gay/straight alliance that has morphed into something w/more blurred lines
- but the cost for gifting whole group wld be too much. MWP, Rabbitt and several other kind people proposed helping w/gifting - so kind and thoughtful! (In the finest Adam tradition!)
However, it will not be needed in this case. I was driving to work and realized there was no reason not to at least bring it up to the group's 'overseers' incl the sponsors who control funds. (I hadn't been thinking outside of my Adam closet.)
So I emailed a link to webpage and asked what they thought about this as the group's end of year gift (a lot of kids are moving on after this year so we'd already been discussing giving something to mark the occasion.)
Anyway, I was surprised that the reaction was immediate w/almost unanimous approval - the one person who was worried was persuaded by references to Adam's charity work and his IGB vid (which I happened to link as well
).
Interestingly, in this case the design helped to sell it - since peace signs are 'in' again w/the kidlings. And everyone thought the message on the back was spot on for our young ones.
This isn't a big group - just breaks double digits - and I think there will be some eye-rolling but I also think they'll love it. (esp since it will irk some of their dads lol) Win win!
