lyndseyparker Lyndsey Parker Q&A from Simon Cowell's teleconference yesterday. He calls Paula "old dog," says he wants to get audiences drunk! LOL yhoo.it/qTMMnG6 minutes ago Q: Will "The X Factor" encourage contestants to do radical reworkings of songs like Adam Lambert's "Ring Of Fire" or Kris Allen's "Heartless"? SIMON: A hundred percent! We want as many unique versions as possible. Otherwise, it just turns into a karaoke competition. About three weeks into the show, you're going to start hearing contestants way outside of their comfort zones, hearing versions of songs you haven't heard before. Part of the reason we're doing this is you don't want it to be a bad soundalike, and secondly, we're going to sell downloads on iTunes, and that's part of the test of the contestants within the show: Who can come up with the most unique version of the song? Otherwise the show is boring.

That guy on Swedish Idol singing Aftermath made me cringe. Actually we have a few that are not so bad. This girl has some potential don´t you think? www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZCB4vpm-Y4 WOW!! that girl is good!!! Almost sounded better or as the same level of Jessie J!

If it is a slow day, you might enjoy these quotes, all of which remind me of Adam. If you are having a busy day, scroll.
I am not eccentric. It's just that I am more alive than most people. I am an unpopular electric eel in a pond of goldfish. Edith Sitwell, British poet
It's hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world. Dolly Parton
Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you're born to stand out? Oliver James
In order to be irreplaceable, one must always stand out. Coco Chanel
About all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, and some won't like you at all. Rita Mae Brown author
I wore black because I liked it. I still do and wearing it still means something to me. It's still my symbol of rebellion against the status quo, against hypocritical houses of God, against people whose minds are closed to others' ideas. Johnny Cash (Yeah! He would have loved Adam's ROF!)

I think Adam is in this business for the long run. As he said, if he can do this for the rest of his life he will be a happy man. Seeing him call himself a man when he was such an adorable boy at the time was so cute. Hi all! Just jumping in to say that this development, and Mischa's note that he is in this business for the long run, is what I have been thinking in the past few days. While I am also disappointed that the music will not be here as fast as I would like to have it, I do not worry about Adam's career being affected by the later album release date. I really think Adam cannot be compared to any of these other idols such as Daughtry and Cook for many reasons, but the most obvious to me is that Adam has achieved celebrity status. Paparazzi follow him for a reason, he makes appearances on these types of TV shows like PR and this new one, he does the MTV/Jonny Cota interviews, he gets the BTM episode, he mentors on AI and now the new kids show, etc., because he is a celebrity now, who also has the talent to back it up. No one is following Chris Daughtry snapping his photo to see what he is wearing..unless I missed something? Also, I can see Adam guest hosting on a show like The View or Regis and Kelly or something like that...can't imagine some of the other idols or even some pop stars getting a gig like that (and btw, I did see Lady Gaga on The View and thought she was great, but Adam would blow her away--he's just so good with people and talks so easily on camera). We all say how much we love to hear him say words, not just sing! I think there's a reason for that, and people in the entertainment industry have noticed, too. Again, this is why, to me, his situation and career options are so different from the others. HE is different and really has so much talent in so many areas. He is a true entertainer...not only a singer. But then of course, there is THE VOICE! It's all good! Just my two cents, and now back to lurking. Love you all for the intelligent, witty, fun conversation on this board! P.S. 4MSrmyn, thanks for compiling the TWOP recaps...I love those! I love this post, joky, and I do agree. Adam seems to be positioning himself as a multimedia artist and maybe that was the original strategy when he decided to change management. He needed a team that could work media across all platforms and develop his brand across multiple disciplines. *tosses out to universe* #manifestation

Oh, forgot one of my favorites:
I think the reward for conformity is that everyone likes you but YOU. Rita Mae Brown
