I guess I am lucky in a way as I have not experienced the need to be acknowledged or appreciated by Adam. I just feel happy that he exists in a public eye and quite selfishly - I want him to continue be an artist so I can be entertained... I would do anything in my means to support him in that.I am nostalgic too - all the "high" of the nightly concerts, with the sounds, pictures, moves, getting tickets, travelling.... now just RL and waiting... He'll always have me... I need nothing more from him than music (I still listen to FYE every day...) and every now and then interviews (words!!!!) of whatever topic is current. When Adam#2 comes along I'll buy it and go to as many concerts I possibly can...in order to make new music and/or diversify to other genres; movies, fashion or what have you he needs to WORK and make CONNECTIONS. Eyes on the prize. Other than that, I want him to have a life and be happy. The way I can contribute to that is being positive and supportive, every way I can. For me, this tweet he sent two days ago says a lot about the man and how he feels about his fans. It's all and more I ever needed from him. To focus on the positive: I wanna thank the majority of you for your passion, loyalty and *sanity*! The idea of a fan contest for creative ideas someone mentioned earlier was perfect. It should be pitched to mods at ALF, with pictures of Angelkrash's T-shirt design. Anyone?

I really agree with this, and posted about it on the charitywater T shirt thread (wish I could have gone back and edited my first line though, I didn't need to point out any negativity...sigh). These sites do a great job with having peeps submit their own t-shirt designs and having the community vote on them: threadless: www.threadless.com/submitdesign by humans: www.designbyhumans.com/The only drawback I can find to this idea is that it may make for less cohesive branding. But currently Adam's visual branding in his merch/posters/website etc. is pretty diverse, especially when it comes to fonts. (Design nerd hat: I love the font for the Sleepwalker single in Germany, and I love Adam's signature on the fansite). But until a designer is hired that is more cutting edge, a T-shirt or poster design contest might be a great way to involve the fandom and make some great $. amw and lynne I loved your posts, and I have come to the conclusion, that for myself, the best way to put into practice my joy at being an AFL fan in this break between albums is to put my energy and time into my own creative life. I liked reading through the answers to the questions Adam asked on ALF. The most interesting answers, IMO, where from peeps who liked exploring and discovering the broad range of delights available in music, food and travel. So yeah, along with my own career and creative pursuits, that's why I'm mostly only available to lurk now. |
