#woops, just woke up briefly and I wrote a post and it disappeared. Now I see Gelly's clarification, and I get what you're saying. If that's the worst "controversy" reporters can bring up, then we're in good shape. I'm sure Adam will laugh it off.

I was agreeing with Whatfun's thought that the fans likely feel more ownership over a song than the artist does. Adam's history is in musical theater and those songs were created to be interpreted by an infinite number of people hopefully for generations. Part of AI is covering songs and I think fans of the artists most commonly associated with a song, whether they wrote it or not, bristle a bit when someone else attempts it. There were probably quite a few Tears for Fears fans who resented Gary Jules' version and in turn resented Adam's take.

And though I think any artist should be able to attempt any song they'd like, there are going to many songs that do not translate well thematically ... Tony Bennett singing "My Humps" or SuBo covering WLL, for instance.

Though "Mad World" kind of fits SuBo's backstory and persona, IMO the lament about reflecting on your school years is a risk for a "singer of a certain age" and will need to be handled very well to not sound a bit pathetic. Really? Thirty years later and you're still brooding about school? It will be tough for her to pull off, I think.

And who knows what goes through Simon C's mind half the time. I do almost feel like he's trying to get a reaction when he conceives of her covering The Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears. Maybe she'll do a little Iron Maiden or Sex Pistols next time around.

If interviewers have listened to SuBo's album, then they might ask about Mad World... Adam would be smart if he just feigns ignorance: "No, I had no idea/haven't heard it yet!"

I'm just thinking a lot of interviewers/journalists are gonna ask the controversial questions like SusieFierce mentioned, because that's what people want to hear. I can just hear someone ask:

"So, is your next tour going to be so-called "family friendly" like the last one, where you made out with your bass player and grabbed your crotch and did a lot of hip thrusts and smoked a joint?" :

Or they'll start asking about Sauli, as in: "So, when are you guys gonna get married?" :

Or they'll ask stuff like: "So, now that you've got a hot boyfriend, what's Sauli gonna think when you kiss your bass player?"

Of course, they'll probably ask these kinds of questions after the usual:

"So, do you think that AMA performance has had any lasting effect on your career so far?"

"Why didn't you work with Gaga for this album?"

"What kind of eyeliner do you use?"

"Are you gonna start your own cosmetics line?"

"Since we talked last, have you hung out with Madonna again?"

"People think you and Bill Kaulitz are a lot alike... what do you think? Is there a feud between you guys?"


ETA: Oh... and I almost forgot! They'll ask about Idol, too!

"What do you think of the new judges on American Idol? Would you ever consider being a judge if they asked you?"

and, "How do you think Paula's doing on X-Factor?"
