Amazing! Now at 1,150,798 views with 10K likes.
I was wondering why there are relatively few likes compared to the number of views, and it occurred to me that many of those views must be from watching the video embedded in all those countless media articles online. The thumbs up icon isn't visible when you click the embedded video. It's only visible if you go directly to youtube to watch.
ETA Wow the views went up to 1,163,033 in the short time I posted the above numbers.

It is so wonderful to see something connecting for Adam, and this time in the US, not just oversees, like the BBC New Year special with Queen in 2014/15 or the song Ghost Town in NL, or X-factor in Australia. Adam has had many stories like this oversees, but at home, there was often not enough coverage for him to break through. It is with delight that I am observing all the retweets coming from radio personalities, magazines, and TV. Their tweets and articles and quotes are all over this thread today, and it is a beautiful thing. What a good lead into whatever Adam and his team have planned for us for 2019.
Believe may be an unlikely candidate to achieve this major breakthrough, but then again, it is not. It is just one cycle forward on that work that was set into motion 10 years ago, as kryptoman's wonderful graphic shows. I find it amazing that Adam again chose to not play it safe with this performance. He did quite a few risky things here. First, he did not feel tempted to imitate the performance he did on idol. While there certainly was one glory note ending, overall he held back on the glory notes, in moments where those who know him probably were expecting them. Secondly, he used quite a bit of falsetto or 'unconnected' singing. That's going for that angsty sound, at the risk of his voice potentially falling over. Sounding as if this could happen to his voice intensifies the lyrics, it sounds like loosing control, and that did connect with the audience and apparently continues with all the repeat listeners now. For somebody like Adam, who has a beautiful head voice that is safe and brilliant, to choose this more dangerous style, is risky, especially in such a live situation, but if it works, it does pay off, as it did here. Do I miss the head voice? Yes, sure, but there will be other songs to use it for. Here, the surprising change in technique did pay off. The third risk that Adam took imo, is that he went for very meticulously thought out line by line interpretations, that you notice more when you listen on repeat. He used his vocal control to imitate the dialed up autotune that Cher had introduced with this song. He honored it, rather than bury it. Used his superior vocal abilities to warble like the autotune machine did on the original. That is imo not only skill, that is chutzpah. He also changed his melodic line enough to achieve the overall altered sound that Cher's songs have, and I am not really sure how he did that or how to explain what I mean. To my ears it comes across as an purposeful under-singing that relies on sub-harmonies to complete the overall sound. ...Maybe others can describe it better, because I am not quite sure what it is that he does here. It is distinctly different from following the glory note melody, like he did in that short segment that we have from the idol days. All of this makes it quite complex, and based on what we had heard in segments, I was not sure whether people would get it, but quite obviously, they did, and now of course, the story runs on its own terms. We are seeing the boost of views on other Adam videos like GT tonight, and probably some QAL videos too, so people are listening checking out other Adam recordings. It is a great day, and a wonderful start into A4.
I am soooo happy for him.

Rolling Stone @rollingstone See Adam Lambert join Cyndi Lauper for a version of Sonny & Cher's “I Got You Babe” at the #KCHonors rol.st/2EOLsiP I didn't see copy on this so adding... "Cyndi Lauper and Adam Lambert took turns paying tribute to Cher with covers of “If I Could Turn Back Time,” “Believe” and “I Got You Babe” as part of the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C. The event took place on December 2nd and aired Wednesday the 26th on CBS. Lauper’s rendition of “If I Could Turn Back Time” stuck closely to the ringing Eighties rock of the original that was written by Diane Warren, which became a major hit for Cher in 1989. As the guitars vamped and Lauper strutted around the stage, the crowd — including Lin-Manuel Miranda and the creators of Hamilton, on hand for an award of their own — clapped, adding force to the song’s driving beat. Lambert joined Lauper for a version of the Sonny & Cher oldie “I Got You Babe” that was similarly faithful to its source material — even the guitar tone closely approximated the retro sound of the original, which reached Number One in the summer of 1965. The two singers traded verses, and as Lauper sang, “when I’m sad, you’re a clown,” Lambert mugged happily for the camera. This time Reba McEntire was spotted singing along. The most surprising Cher tribute was Lambert’s take on “Believe.” Perhaps concerned that the thumping, club-ready, autotune-smeared original would overwhelm an aging Kennedy Center crowd, Lambert re-worked the track as a sparse ballad. A piano sketched out the melody and strings swelled to fill in empty spaces in the track; Lambert added operatic quavers as he sang Cher’s lyrics about persistence in the face of romantic torment.

Javi went home to the island of Mallorca for a few days and then with his parents to Madrid for a family gathering on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day an even taller part of the family traveled to a huge family gathering on the island of Ibiza. Now he’s back on Mallorca. And I‘m actually curious, when he will fly back to LA. Before New Year‘s Eve or after? In between all his travels, he suddenly started to follow Danielle. I wondered, how that came and thought, that maybe Adam has met her, while they were both in San Diego on Christmas Day: Adam at his Dad‘s and Danielle at her parents‘. With most of Adam’s friends out of the city of LA, he must be a bit lonely... Terrance and Joey are in New York and most of his other friends (that are on Instagram), are out of town for Christmas or on vacation. Javi was also at the one woman play with Adam, and Danielle and her boyfriend attended. They were all in the same picture. I cannot quite figure out what your second paragraph is inferring in terms of a connection with Javi, so was not sure if you knew Danielle and Javi would have previously met. Yes, I knew, that Javi and Danielle had met previously. I was just wondering, why he started to follow her now. When he’s on his family vacation in Spain. Nothing important. 🙂
