“A Shaman on a Ship to the Moon”
6.22.11 by Q3
Adam did an interview with ET and the first part contained a marvelous quote, “Like a shaman on a ship to the moon”. So my friends and any other Adam fans, my word to you is: get out your space suits. Discard any thoughts of roller coasters. We’re headed to a new place, to New Space, in a “Ship to the Moon”. And as the grand dame herself [Bette Davis] once said, "Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night."
Here the brief ET article and a link to this much watch interview with Adam. I can’t wait for part two.
September 22, 2011
Since coming in second on American Idol's eighth season, the For Your Entertainment singer has done nothing but provide pure unadulterated entertainment.
Thanks to his performances, music and fashion, Adam Lambert has been heralded as one of the most exciting male artists to emerge on the scene in years. Now, with his sophomore CD due out early next year, he sat down with ETonline to talk about all things Adam while filming a guest spot on The Hub's new reality competition series, Majors & Minors!
In part one of our interview series with the Grammy-nominated artist, we discuss the latest on his 2012 release, what his approach to the album is and why he's reluctant to talk too much about it. Then, he brooches the subject you all want to know about: his style. That's when Adam drops one of the most amazing sartorial descriptions ever uttered.
While Adam Lambert's episode of Majors & Minors airs next month (learn all about the show here!), you should not miss the series premiere, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. on The Hub! And keep checking back for the rest of Adam's interview!

Interview on YouTube:
A few highlights....
“I’m considered the Executive Producer of the album. I worked with my label on that. And they’re very excited as am I about that opportunity. I’m really involved with it. I’m involved in the imaging, the production, the writing – even on a couple of songs I did not write, I definitely have input.”
……
Referring to the album track list and OOL specifically, Adam said, “Nothing’s locked, nothing’s done.”
……
“It’s not about the control itself. ….I’m not getting off on the controlling the situation. I think what it is about making sure that it’s coming from me. I owe this to my fans that. They’re so supportive and loyal, that I really want to deliver right to them an album that is coming right from me. Not a manufactured thing. …. It’s coming right from me.”
Oh and that little bit of news.....
Adam has the “Executive Producer” credit on his album.
What is an Executive Producer?
9.23.11 by Q3
Like any title, Executive Producer can mean many things but it certainly means one thing – you have control of the budget.
A record producer (like Max Martin) is responsible for the sound of the music – if it was a film, he/she would be called a director.
An executive producer oversees the entire project – including, and most importantly, the finances.
Executive producers -- even all working on pop/rock albums -- don't necessarily share the same responsibilities. They can have overall responsibility for nearly everything, handle a specific area of the project or have no greater responsibility than funding the project, providing support or lending their name to boost publicity and sales.
The simplest way of looking at it may be to say that an executive producer is the executive charged with producing the project, whether it's a film, an album or a TV series. That may mean taking charge of the entire project or providing some skill or resource that is absolutely vital to the project's success.
For example, an executive producer can be a "suit," someone who watches where the money goes and keeps the project on track. Often executive producers work for the studio or the record label to make sure the company's investment pays off.
Or an executive producer can be a backer who bankrolls the majority of the project or puts up a partial share and then brings in investors to fund the rest.
An executive producer can roll up his sleeves and really get into the production process, as Puffy Combs did with "Born Again," or take on a vital part of the project, as Chris Charlesworth did for The Who. Particularly in the independent music or film industries, an executive producer can wind up doing virtually everything not handled by artists and crew.
An executive producer also can be a well-known producer or director who lends his name to a project to give it greater visibility. Steven Spielberg, George Clooney and others have been listed as executive producers for films for name's sake -- even without taking any active role in the production process.
And there's no reason why a motion picture or record album needs to have only one executive producer. Several producers often share the title on a film, reflecting their varied input. In the case of The Who's retro albums, Charlesworth shared producer credit with John Astley, an experienced music producer who did the remastering, and Bill Curbishley, the band's manager [source: Richard James Burgess].

In Adam’s case, he is running the show – the entire show.
I am surprised and impressed.
Most importantly, I am so confident in his judgment and maturity as an artist, that it is a very good thing.
NOW.I.M.READY.4.THIS.NAMELESS.ALBUM
A bit of perspective
An artist getting a Executive Producer credit (and control) from a major label is really, really rare. Not unheard of, but very surprising, very Labertesque!
For comparison: Lady Gaga “Born This Way” Executive Producer, A&R – Vincent Herbert
But not to get too carried away, for an indie album you can get an EP credit for as little as $10! Here is one you could have gotten for $5K (scroll down to $5K www.kickstarter.com/projects/511475076/help-kerrigan-lowdermilk-make-the-best-album-ever
But, of course, this is not an indie album with a $20K budget!!!
OK I will tell you how I feel in a very sophisticated adult manner….
{scroll down}
{keep scrolling – it’s prob not worth it but WTF}
{you know you want to see it}
So I guess you have now concluded that I think it is amazing!!
