Very few artists get EP credit. rabbitrabbit of current pop artists those are the only 4 I can think of. Big question is if it is sole EP credit or shared. I have a feeling it could be solo EP credit. From what I can tell -- Adam is almost completely in control of the album but working with his A&R team and add working collaboratively with RCA. He clearly has Creative Control -- but most likely RCA would still have the ability to reign him in or redirect him. They have to accept the work. And if he has Executive Producer credit he is directing the budget and financial allocations, and probably making the deals. He is not handling distribution and not managing promotion. BUT the important thing is that only an artist that the label respects would get an EP credit!! ETA: I suspect Adam is really doing the work of an EP -- he must be working his ass off!!! This makes me all kinds of squeeing happy. What a sign of respect and trust. What an acknowledgement of Adam's abilities and intellect. Damn! We are stanning the most incredible artist to come around in a generation or more.

Actually -- most of the album promotion comes out of RCA budget not DMG's budget.
And from everything we know, Adam is really controlling almost every aspect of the album development -- credit, talent selection and finances.
And if you check out what non-Adam fans are posting about this -- many are essentially posting that it is the height of hubris -- although less articulately.
And the management/suits are apparently not involved in this album in every way. They will certainly control acceptance, promotion, schedule (once Adam finishes and submits it), single selection, album track selection, distribution and admin.
Finally, on risk -- there is not necessarily any additional risk associated with being your own EP. Adam managed his tour, he can manage the finances for his album creation (much less complicated). Adam is probably not risking any more of his royalties but will get a greater royalty share.
I can't figure out how this can be viewed in a negative light.
1. IF this is an honorary title (not my belief and contrary to what Adam said), then he gets some extra money.
2. IF he is "really" EP (my belief), then he is getting recognized and paid for the work that he was already doing.
Risk in either case is the same -- he will either sell a lot and make some royalties or sell less and just keep a really large advance. So in money -- a total flop, Adam just gets $500K+. A few hit singles and a successful album....$$$$.
So what am I missing????

There is a difference between Producer and Executive Producer.
Many artists produce there own music.
Executive Producer is the business and strategy role.
An artist being an Executive Producer on a major label album is rare.
Note: Brian McNight is an indie artist and just credited as a Producer.

Adam is almost certainly not investing any money in the album because he has the EP credit. But I am pretty sure he is investing a lot of extra work, effort and stress.
The biggest risk for an artist is that they can't blame anyone else for their problems if the album underpreforms. But Adam totally owned FYE and never blamed anyone for the things people criticized like the cover.
Note: Yes, it is still possible to blame the label for not properly promoting the album -- but that is not Adam's style.
ETA: I do not know what I am doing up!! It is 3:30AM, in 5 hours the movers will start unloading. YIPES!!!
I am rarely in the "Adam is the only artist to ever __________" camp. But in this case, you can put me in the "It is rare" camp.
