Wow. I have another friend from Berlin who became an Adam fan in an almost similar way. She noticed him on the "Helene Fischer Show" while channel surfing and bought a QAL ticket immediately. The rest is history. She has been to 12 concerts in the meantime, both solo and with Queen. I liked "One Vision" but SCC not so much. And for me too, the wait time for Adam to return from the break was loooong during their first tour. My favorite opening so far was the one in Vegas to WWRY, with the purple coat - very captivating and attention grabbing When I look back at it today, I actually like the opening with One Vision and SCC. I came to like both songs. But back then, I didn’t know them and the soundmix was simply bad, up where I was sitting. To me, especially SCC was just noise. I especially disliked Brian’s guitar at that point. I remember, when I checked the QAL videos from the Helene Fischer show on YouTube and went to the Queen Online forum, that many German Queen fans were in horror, because their favorite band had performed there. „How could they? They are a proper rock-band!“. Helene herself sings German Schlager (something, that I would describe as German pop folk music). But since our biggest German TV show „Wetten Dass???“ doesn’t exist any more, there isn’t any big TV show, were musicians can promote their new music in front of a really big audience. It’s there, were all the stars from Queen to Michael Jackson ect. went, before it ended a few years ago. So QAL performed at the next best thing, Helene‘s annual (Christmas) Show, the biggest show on German TV now. The only „problem“ is, that although Helene is the most successful musician we have (and probably ever had! She made it into the Forbes list last year.), her music isn’t taken seriously by rock fans or fans of other genres. And there are almost as many people, who really dislike her, as she has fans. Still, I think, there is barely a German, who can’t sing her biggest song „Atemlos“ by heart. I don’t really care for her, but I like some of her songs. And for all we know by know: QAL‘s promo from that day has payed off! 😁 For those of you, who haven’t seen QAL‘s performances at that show, I will post them here: Who wants to live forever (duet with Helene Fischer): youtu.be/IWs5Ftv92G4I want it all youtu.be/-xesI0SRJLsAnd maybe interesting: Helene Fischer singing a Queen medley a few years earlier: She’s quite good, for a woman singing these songs IMO. youtube.com/watch?v=Iez8gcpYR30Here is, what she usually sings: (And by the way: Adam performed in the same venue 2016 at TOH tour. I was there.) youtube.com/watch?v=yU0aKa7PFBg

Thanks for the lovely Adam memories and the HF vids that are new to me. From what I have gathered ... Adam may be a rock star now but he and Helene Fischer do have a few things in common - they share a background in musical theater and they both are great singers and performers.

That’s exactly, what I was thinking about, while I was just now walking my dog. Both come from a similar background and have/had to fight to be taken seriously. They both don’t play an instrument and don’t write their own songs (all by themselves). The difference is, that Helene is a huuuuuge star by now. I know, she decided to stay in German speaking countries an isn’t known therefore in other parts of the world. But she sells our biggest stadiums regularly. Only Ed Sheeran or the Rolling come close to her numbers. Let’s wait and see, where Adam is going in his career. I think her big success is already unhealthy. She just announced, that she will take a break.

She seems to be somewhat the equivalent of our Carrie Underwood in terms of appeal to huge audiences. Of course we have many big stars here in the US.

Especially, since Carrie Underwood is pretty much unknown over here.
