In Germany the film is back in some theaters as well. And it never left some of them. But it hasn’t been number1 since the second or third week and is only playing once or maybe twice a day. Still pretty good! We will have to wait for the DVD ect. until March, the 14th. I’ve the feeling, the date has been pushed back, because it’s still in the theaters. But maybe I’m wrong here.
I guess the release date plays a role in the mentioned countries in your posted ad as well.
Between: Why are they already releasing the movie for home entertainment, when it’s still going pretty strong in the theaters? Isn’t that contra-productive?
Edit: I checked two other theaters in my city and both are back to 3-4 screenings per day! Wow.
According to the chart, the best performers per-capita were:
1. Iceland - $1.49 - half a million dollars, but from a population of only 338K!
2. South Korea - $1.44 - second-largest international result behind Japan, but from 51.47M people...
3. Australia - $1.38
4. Norway - $1.04
5. New Zealand - $0.97
6. Netherlands - $0.96
7. United Kingdom - $0.95
8. Czech Republic - $0.74
9. Japan - $0.59 - second-highest gross behind the United States, but too many people
10. Spain - $0.57
Note that the USA would have been in 9th position with $0.61 just ahead of Japan had I included it in the charts.
Germany's per-capita value is $0.32 due to the large population.
Here is a chart showing the gross in USD (red), and the per-capita results scaled to 10 million (in other words, how much money would have a country generated if it had a population of 10 million). In other words, if Iceland had 10M people instead of 338K, it would have produced a gross of nearly $15M! Notice that Sweden has 9.995M people, thus its two bars are nearly identical in length!
Again, the population data is a bit outdated, but you get the picture...
I heard today that Bohemian Rhapsody is now the #6 most visited movie in the Netherlands of all time in # of people going to the movie. The Sound of Music is #1 with 4 million visitors. Bohemian Rhapsody already passed 1 million in December when it also became the highest grossing movie of 2018 in the Netherlands.
