14 million followers: twitter.com/ABC/status/1097646960469819392ABC News @abc Queen and Adam Lambert will rock you at the 2019 Oscars. abcn.ws/2SJRA3V Queen will, Queen will rock you...at the Oscars this year. The Academy of Motion Pictures announced via Twitter that the legendary British band and its current lead singer, Adam Lambert, will perform on the Feb. 24 telecast on ABC. "Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? We welcome @queenwillrock and @adamlambert to this year's #Oscars," the Academy tweeted. Lambert and Queen announced the news on their own Twitter accounts as well. "Bohemian Rhapsody," the movie that tells the story of Queen's iconic lead singer Freddie Mercury, is nominated for five Oscars this year, including best picture and best actor for Rami Malek, who plays Mercury. None of the songs in "Bohemian Rhapsody" are actually nominated for best original song, however, since they were not written specifically for the movie. In addition to Queen's performance, four out of the five best original song nominees will be performed on the Oscar telecast. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper will perform "Shallow" from "A Star Is Born," while Bette Midler will sing "The Place Where Lost Things Go" from "Mary Poppins Returns." Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings will sing "When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings," from the movie "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs," and Jennifer Hudson will sing "I'll Fight" from the documentary "RBG." It's not clear if the final best original song nominee, "All the Stars," will be performed. The song from "Black Panther" was written and recorded by rapper Kendrick Lamar and R&B singer SZA. And here's a fun fact: Lady Gaga's stage name is taken from the Queen song "Radio Gaga." Now they'll be on the same stage together. The 91st Annual Academy Awards will air Feb. 24 live on ABC starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

3.3 mil followers: ht tps://twitter.com/pitchfork/status/1097612110694174722 Pitchfork @pitchfork Queen + @adamlambert are set to take the #Oscars stage p4k.in/vGpxkCWBohemian Rhapsody is up for five Academy Awards in total, including Best Picture Queen have announced that they will perform at the Academy Awards ceremony this Sunday, February 24. The band will be composed of original members guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, fronted by singer Adam Lambert. (The musicians have been touring together as Queen + Adam Lambert since 2011.) The move follows the success of Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic about the band and its late frontman, Freddie Mercury. Bohemian Rhapsody is up for five Oscars in total, including Best Picture, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Film Editing. Rami Malek is nominated for Best Actor for his performance as Mercury; it’s his first ever Oscar nod. Really consider if you want to open to their site for their "hits/clicks". They suggest reading their review of BR. That review is one of the most scathingly negative reviews of BR I have read! Yup...not gay enough/factually wrong/not remotely a love story. Such a great day, then to read this person's opinion...well, I need a minute to get back into a positive frame of mind. I saw the link on their page and knowing it is Pitchfork, did NOT click on the review. I am not surprised, but don't let it ruin your day because that critic (and many others) will have to go to sleep at night reconciling their wrong-headed opinion (it will probably contain some version of the pleasing the simple masses) and that they have no fucking clue how to make $845 million dollars and never will. Smug virtue will be their only reward.

Skaschep, you are a treasure. I was wondering if the Academy was overwhelmed by the scope and global impact of their choice. Seeing this, my guess is yes. Awesome!

Skaschep, you are a treasure. I was wondering if the Academy was overwhelmed by the scope and global impact of their choice. Seeing this, my guess is yes. Awesome! You are welcome! It's amazing how many tweets there were at the news moment. It's slowing down a bit now, but still going on. He's up to 24k tweets now in the last 24 hours. I did also try to search for Queen on this tool, but it wouldn't let me sadly. I guess those would be even more.

Knowing that lots of dumb decisions are often made by network and TV bosses, I hope that the Oscar peeps realizes what a coup it is for them to have QAL perform on the show. It's really creating a buzz! And then, of course, is the Gift From God, who has made it possible for Queen to be the magnificent band they are today after so many decades.
