MM instead of Adam with Queen? Don't think that was ever a consideration in Brian and Roger's minds. As they said, they were not looking for a singer so they could continue performing. When MM was discovered, they were looking for a sound alike for a tribute band. To have a show that faithfully recreated the sound they had made. MM fit the bill. But the two of them never wanted to just recreate the sound. They wanted to recreate the concert experience. Brian and Roger had already done world wide performances with a stand in for Freddie. While they had huge audiences for the shows, it never really felt like classic Queen - not for the guys and not for the audience. I believe Roger and Brian accepted that the classic Queen experience was a one off that could never happen again. Then, out of the blue appears Adam. Vocally he has the range for the repertoire. Technically, he can handle the complexity and variety. (Which Paul Rodgers did and could not, tho' he is a good rock singer in his own right.) It could be argued that MM had the range and technique to do justice to the songs, or he would not be successful in Queen Extravaganza. But he didn't have the showmanship, the pizazz, the audacity, the personality, the extravagance to front Queen in the manner that Freddie had. That, Brian and Roger knew instinctively was possible from the first time they performed with Adam. With Adam, they could not only perform their music again in concert, but they could create the magic that is the SHOW that Queen was known and loved for. With Adam they could again create the spectacle and glory and heady experience they had with Freddie. They acknowledge with ONLY Adam. I love you, cassie. That is all.

Part 2 - Adam and Freddie
I've watched the movie several times. I also saw a YT that compared the original LIve Aid footage with the movie footage, side by side and note by note. Ironically, I came away with a better understanding of folks who say they prefer Freddie to Adam. (I vastly prefer Adam, but that is personal taste, right?)
Adam's voice is much more polished, refined, controlled, reliable. So, maybe for some it feels less spontaneous, less risky, while Freddie is more raw and dangerous and unpredictable. Freddie's voice is "messier." Adam's voice is so good, it sounds unreal. Adam is not down and dirty enough. And he lacks some of the aggression and toughness Freddie displays attacking the vocals and dominating the audience. I can see the comparison between a gutsy, raunchy rock concert and a meticulously performed musical show. For Freddie fans who want the former, Queen's current show with Adam is just "too good," too perfect, too calculated.
I think it is perfectly planned, executed, and performed. I love it!

Ryan is now on live on the RC on the E channel. He may catch Adam before he moves over to the ABC RC for the last 30 minutes.
