Awww thanks for sharing at last your special Adam connection, and thanks for the little bits you've shared. The People article was very cute also, so amazing that the "Marc" mannequin comforted the pooch! You’re welcome! I’m so glad for her and Marc. They’re crazy about dogs and such lovely people. I actually have two other friends with Adam connections. One of them is at Warner Bros Records. I haven’t spoken to her about Adam lately because when Adam left the label she was thinking he’d come to regret his decision, but he’s doing really well going independent, IMO. I had another co-worker at Playboy whose husband worked on lighting for American Idol. Couldn’t get much out of her, but she did tell me they worked extra hard getting Adam’s lighting just right. It’s a small world in LA, and entertainment jobs overlap, so it’s easier to connect with people who know people. Oh! You were also the one with the WB connection! I hope he doesn't regret his decision, I don't think he is one to live with regret anyway. I have followed Jason Derulo in the past, and WB hasn't done a whole lot for him in terms of radio play for his various singles (though in my opinion, his music has gone downhill, used to be more poppy). I am sad that we won't get the little tidbits you used to get for us about how fabulous Adam is (thought we already think so anyway). Thanks for all you have shared!

I am happy with the way things are rolling. Seriously. My biggest wish for Adam is to establish and maintain a fulfilled life - to not get too lost in the music bubble again and to not forget about his other needs as well. I will be the last person to ask him about the next single and when/if he will be touring.

Speaking of Alisan, has winning the Voice helped her music any? I don't follow her, not too crazy about her voice, but she seems to always be struggling...has she done any major gigs, or just small appearances?

I really like the way his new management is getting his name out there. I think he is on his way to the superstardom he has always deserved.

lurleen, I am totally onboard with what you are saying about the radio play dilemma. To me, the most significant sentence in your above post is" "People may think radio is not important, but it is important and useful to those artists who can get it." That means radio play IS important because it gives certain artists an immense boost in exposure to the GENERAL public who are often passive receivers of whatever is being played. Streaming is for music that the listeners actively seek out. Playlists are created by the listeners who already know what they want. Downloads and iTunes are pre-selected. But radio reaches listeners who are opening themselves up to whatever comes on the air. They are casual receivers of songs by many artists. Radio is a "discovery medium" much more than a pre-selected playlist is. That's why radio is still relevant. That's why "it's important and useful to those artists who can get it." We have all guessed at the reasons why Adam doesn't get good radio play. It's hard to believe that lingering homophobia could be one of them, but it might be. Lord knows, he's had some great songs that never saw the light of day. Great post, Girldrummer. You state so clearly what I have always wondered when the discussion has been of the decreasing lack of importance of radio play. How does the casual listener ever get to know that Adam still exists and has a new single out, if they have to proactively seek him out on Spotify or whatever, to know that? Your phrase about radio being a ‘discovery medium’ seems to perfectly sum up its value - and why I believe Adam must want it badly.

Adam got alot of radioplay with GT. It was a Top 20 US Pop Hit. I don't think theirs a stigma. I just think it comes down to the music.

So if I understand this correctly, I go to my Spotify page and the songs that are listed there (and I did not choose myself) are my "playlist," right? And those are the ones to play? I play Adam's songs anyway, esp. the current one. I just want to do the most advantageous thing for his numbers. I don't know exactly what you see when you open Spotify, but if you are streaming Adam's music you are doing great! Those are comforting words! At least I know I'm doing the right thing. And I'll keep it up!

Your phrase about radio being a ‘discovery medium’ seems to perfectly sum up its value - and why I believe Adam must want it badly. I know I can't read Adam's mind, but I will just ASSUME that: He will take all the radio play he can get. He will perform in the largest venues that he can fill. He will take streams and downloads and purchases of any kind. He will go on TV shows and do awards things, special events, etc. as they arise. He will tour with all his heart with Queen and as a solo act. I don't think he's in this game to just reach for the middle rung. I think his mind is always on moving up to the highest rung. Being happy is a great goal. But I think Adam wants to reach the very top career-wise, too, if he possibly do it. But I can't read his mind.
