Oh, man, I may have made a dumb mistake. I briefly (about 10 seconds) followed a twitter account associated with my kid's school, not thinking that all those kid's parents could now see my Adam- centric twitter account!!!! I unfollowed immediately and immediately protected my tweets. Will that be enough? Is that the same as a locked account, and if not, how do I do that? I think that does it. No one should see your tweets except people who follow you.

I haven't seen calls for "activity" either, but I don't have Twitter myself (I just sometimes read other people's twitters online).
All the responses to that "apology" blog were beautiful, I thought, but I still felt ticked off about it, so I vented here at Atop. (I did and do suspect homophobia - sorry, I do - based only on the fact that he seemed to feel it okay to tweet what he did in response to a FF request when he's never even HEARD Adam sing. So, why was he compellled? But, ultimately, that's for him to think about.)
Adam's tweets about the designer are interesting to me. I thought - oh, good, I actually disagree with Adam (I'm not a mindless, slobbering fan, after all). But, then, I realized (and I hesitate to admit this) - after long, long resistance, I recently added two Chris Brown songs to my iPod. I just really, really, really like the songs. And then there's the airline thing - they're all different situations, I think, but they all go along a similar theme, too.
I've always thought one of the most interesting things is when people change their minds about something related to values (for lack of a better a word) - the reasoning, the story, behind that.

I followed so briefly, someone would have had to be looking at the followers list a just the right moment to see my name there. It doesn't show, now. But does protecting your tweets keep someone new from following you without you knowing? (if you don't check for new followers often enough?) Lol, I just told my husband and he said I should wear my Adam Love proudly and not worry about it. Which I do to those I know, but, we are talking about a private school with some very socially connected people that I'd just rather not see my "AFL is a mother fucking beast!" tweet! Ok, now I'm laughing!

I unfollowed immediately and immediately protected my tweets. Will that be enough? Is that the same as a locked account, and if not, how do I do that? I think that does it. No one should see your tweets except people who follow you. Yes, once you're locked, only people who already follow you can see your tweets, but keep in mind, you can't tweet Adam or anyone else who doesn't follow you because even though you @reply him, he can't see it. A few things you can do when/if you decide to unlock: You might wait a few days or a week, in case they attempt an immediate follow-back. Most likely, they won't pursue it once they see they need to request to follow you. If they do request to follow, deny it. They won't be sent a notice or anything. Chances are, they'll forget even asking. After you unlock, you can block the account. They'll never know unless they randomly go to follow you again. Also, opt out of that follower recommendation thing (eep! I can't remember what it's called right now). @whotofollow, I think. If you block that account, it won't recommend people to follow and it won't recommend you to others, so the likelihood of someone stumbling onto your account on accident is much more remote. ETA: I just saw your question Lynneville (I'm Susie Slow-Post Typer today ... must be all that 3 a.m. blogging ) You will receive an email notification if someone requests to follow you. If you are locked, I recommend checking the email address you're using more frequently. However, in New Twitter, I think it tells you if you have any new requests in the upper-right-hand corner of your page. (I was locked for a few days last week for mostly the same reasons and figured a lot of this out.)

Jesslala, I had not seen about half of those pics before. Fun! Thanks. Altho....I personally prefer aqua (my favorite color) to khaki (boring for me). I'm probably in the minority on that one, too, lol. Rihannsu, great post. LOL! jesslala I've always thought it was the tank that was the heinous part of this ensemble. If you're still feeling creative, could you try one with the aqua shorts and different colored tank - maybe black?

The changing of minds. I have never expected anything of Adam other than his music, but I think we all agree that he has the potential over his career and life to change many minds. Many of us do this as fans don't we..... hope to change peoples minds. I personally hope that something I say, do or write might change at least one persons mind in my lifetme. So if we hope this for ourselves and see this potential in Adam we shouldn't feel guilt for adding a Chris Brown song to our itunes or buying an item of clothing designed by Galliano. It should work both ways. YMMV

The account is run by two teachers who are traveling Ireland and are tweeting as the school mascot. Too bad it's not one of the teachers who already know of my addiction interest. Oh, well. (still laughing... for now) thanks for the info SusieFierce!
