We also saw Kelly Clarkson’s “Mr. Know It All” video, Kid Cudi’s comical interview with Conan O’Brien and Adam Lambert’s sitdown with Heidi Klum. So, how did our readers react to all this pop mayhem? Read on! :: Laura Corn only saw the beauty in Adam Lambert Talks Fashion With Heidi Klum: “These two interviews were so much fun to watch. Adam, in my opinion, doesn’t give a bad interview, but the chemistry between Adam and Heidi was very cute, almost flirty. She calls him beautiful as do his fans, thank you very much.”

Ummmm, not Doris. Peggy, some. Think more Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, Sarah Vaughn. Usually jazz/blues ballad, with lyrics about a love lost, an unrequited love, a scorned lover, but can refer to any emotional jazz/blues ballad. Modern torch singers include Norah Jones and Diana Krall. A modern torch song might be "I Can't Make You Love Me", so we know Adam can sing a torch song! Thanks, cassie! Billy Holliday and Ella F I can do... Norah Jones? Not sure... And even tho' Diana Krall is a fellow Canuck, I don't like her singing at all. DNW. Hey dont' down Norah Jones, she just happens to be the one of the only 3 artists albums that I bought in the last 3 years. I wonder how he'll sound on something like Don't Know Why, etc., but I have to admit they don't really sound like torch songs, but yeah.

Hi. Food for thought: See below an interview from ABC News with Roger Daltrey about the quality of singers in contemporary music. He also disses American Idol a bit. My impression is he thinks that having a distinctive voice is as important as (or maybe more important than) having a great voice. Excerpt: "A lot of the new people they choose on shows like 'American Idol' and things like that — I don't ever hear lead singers," he said. "They always seem to choose to pick people that are great singers, fabulous singers, but they've never got the voice that makes a great lead singer."
Daltrey, 67, went on to name drop some of music's best singers: "You hear 10 seconds of Rod Stewart, you know it's Rod Stewart. Ten-seconds of Mick Jagger, that's Mick Jagger. Ten-seconds of Eddie Vedder, you know that's Eddie."
English-born Daltrey says there is one exception in today's music scene: Adele.Link: abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/daltrey-contemporary-music-lacks-lead-singers-14639465I actually agree with his basic premiss, although I think he's missing some newer singers but am too lazy to think of any. I've never been a fan of any singer just because they are technically great singers. I also agree about all the Idol winners, none besides Adam interest me. Kelly has an incredible voice, but it does nothing for me along with most of the mediocre voices on radio. And I'm going to have to hide behind a rock....but sometimes Adam's voice is too clean for me in his middle range unless he does something to color it which he can do brilliantly in many ways. In many of his pre idol videos, I appreciate them and how amazing his range is but I never would have become a huge fan from them. Just not my style. This is why I'm so grateful to Idol though, I think he worked really hard to shed the broadway label and explore what would he could do as a pop rock star, beyond what he accomplished with Zodiac or CV. And I think he got a lot of great feedback from the behind the scenes people and Slash telling him not to go too crazy improvising with the high notes because he sounds really cool in the lower registers. It reminded me of that Canadian interview where when asked about his range he said who cares, does it sound cool? Adam was one of the only Idols to come off that show and really made a go of getting out of the idol box to try and make something that "sounds cool" and succeeded to a large degree. But did he go too far away from "the voice" with the modern production? Once again he listened and learned and has said he wants the voice out front for the next one. One of the biggest challenges Adam must have is that his voice is so amazing and he has such a crazy ability to make it do whatever he wants, how do you choose? Do you have to choose at all? Could that be his trademark as a singer, being a chameleon? Or do you need that instantly identifiable sound? Would we ever want him to have a trademark sound? Can a modern pop dance record and insane vocals coexist? How many questions can I put in one paragraph? That's what makes following him so much fun. We have no Idea what to expect from his wardrobe, interviews, performances, albums or his voice. He has said his approach to singing has changed a lot in the last two years and it shows on his new album. I'm glad we don't know what to expect even if I have bouts of anxiety because of it. How dull the life of a Nickelback fan must be. Wow jamie, this is exactly what I was thinking as I was running errands today. He can do it ALL so well, how does he choose indeed. Is it a good thing to be limited to only what goes well with a unique voice? I must have heard Adele three or four times as I was driving around and yes, it is easy to identify her voice but does that limit her and is that a good thing. Most of the other Top 40 music is forgettable. It is going to be fun to find out where Adam goes. Another sort of non-Adam related funny thing; there was a call in request for LMFAO's "I'm Sexy and I know it". The young female caller said her daughter wanted to hear it and the DJ asked why not her. She said the video was stuck in her head in a bad way and it made it hard to listen to the song. Of course the only video I have seen is the Adam fan video which I thought was great. But apparently LMFAO's video has lots of speedos. LOL. I don't think I will pollute my mind and just watch Adam's.

I have a challenge. My Mom (a very young 73 year old) just told me that one of the first things she looks at on a man is his bulge. S0o I was telling her about the glam bulge and she didn't believe me and wanted to see. So my challenge is for those picture experts to post the biggest GB picture so that I can send it to her. It has to be in a format that I can use in an e-mail. I SO cannot imagine having this conversation with my mother.

The Glambert Nation is well on its way to becoming as much of a significant social force as the U2 fandom has been for the last 30 years. It is so easy for people to dismiss fans of musicians but in reality U2 fans have already paved the way and shown how a fan community can have significant social and political impact. Bono's power and influence is significant because his fans have rallied over and over to things he focuses his attention on and THAT is why he has the ear of pretty much every politician in the world. Adam's fans are well on the way to giving Adam similar power and influence. There is substantial evidence in press coverage that the media and the industry pay attention to Adam when he speaks and that is because of US. Own your power as a fan and wield it wisely. I know this is going to end up on page 15 or 16, but rihannsu your post inspired me so much. I guess it was easy for me to think that Bono and U2 had that power ONLY through their own efforts but you are so right, they could not have done it without an incredibly strong fan base. We are important and I will use that motivation to step out and be vocal even more. Thank you so much. It is an amazing thing and in many different ways. Not only was he perceived as by politicians as having influence over a good percentage of their voting base but when he started working the halls of Capitol Hill on debt relief he was amazed at how many people in all sections of public service were not only serious U2 fans but credited Bono and U2 with inspiring them into public service in the first place. Most people only see the photo ops of Bono with politicians and don't know that he has met not only with the politicians themselves but with admin staff and policy wonks and pretty much everyone who does anything on Capitol Hill. He was very savvy about that because he speaks to all these groups but gets non-disclosure agreements from most of them so that he has control of who uses him for publicity. The U2 fans joke that Bono's been cloned and even the band members have gotten in on the joke saying that there's a Bono factory in Ireland that churns out copies so that he can get everything done and still write music and tour. ETA: Personally I think he's discovered that if he flies around the world in the right direction he can make 24 hrs into 48.

Yes, one of them will be rewarded with an RCA recording deal, but the rest hang around for the duration, having their skills honed while dealing with artists like Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am, Adam Lambert and Avril Lavigne." I just watched M&M tonight, No Adam and next week episode had Leona Lewis....
