twitter.com/billboard/status/1122903394220412928billboard @billboard On last night's episode of @americanidol, @adamlambert returned for @queenwillrock night blbrd.cm/aQdzLZ #AmericanIdol Adam Lambert is back on American Idol on Sunday (April 28) looking much like Kurt Russell in John Carpenter’s 1982 remake of The Thing, and I’m very okay with this transformation. His mission is to mentor the remaining eight contestants through a night of Queen songs. But first, let’s just pause and remember that it’s been ten years since Adam himself competed on Idol. He ended his season as the runner-up (behind Kris Allen), which a nice testament to all these wide-eyed noobs that fame often fortunes the Jennifer Hudsons more so than the Lee DeWyzes. By the way, for added confusion, the producers decide that Queen night would be a great time to also shoehorn in a sub-theme of contestant duets featuring songs from famous movies. Sure, Jan. twitter.com/BluePurpleMusic/status/1122890367056191490

twitter.com/billboard/status/1122919491288096769billboard @billboard Watch @adamlambert & his mother recall discovering his talent in new @queenwillrock documentary clip blbrd.cm/4mYmrj The long-awaited Queen documentary The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story will make its major debut tonight (Monday, April 29) on ABC. But ahead of the film’s official release, fans are getting a sneak peak behind the frontman who revitalized the legendary band in the 21st century. In a clip debuted on Monday’s episode of Good Morning America, Adam Lambert and his mother, Leila, look back on his childhood, where they say a star was born. “When Adam was younger, he didn’t quite fit in,” Leila said. “He would do a lot of acting out of fantasy things, and he would ask me to film him and take pictures while he was dancing or singing. We thought, ‘There’s got to be another outlet.’” Lambert’s parents decided to put him in a children’s theater group, where the star says he truly discovered his love for performing. “I remember the first Saturday I went, I was instantly like ‘I found my people,’” he said, interspersed with clips of him performing in various shows. Leila Lambert revealed that it wasn’t until after taking Adam in for voice lessons that they discovered his massive singing talent in a production of Fiddler on the Roof. Adam, meanwhile, says that his love of theater helped him overcome his own inhibitions. “As a strange kid, who was kind of ashamed of his body, and in the closet and a whole list of other insecurities, having something that I was good at and that got me a lot of attention, became sort of medicine for me.” The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story airs on ABC tonight (Monday, April 29) at 8 pm EST. The ABC competition delivered a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49, easily the best on the broadcast networks for the night and the show's best performance in the key ad demographic since a 1.5 on March 6. Its 7.88 million viewers are the most since its season premiere. America's Funniest Home Videos (1.1) hit a five-episode high in adults 18-49 preceding Idol, and Shark Tank held steady at 0.8. The premiere of CBS' limited series The Red Line didn't fare so well, posting a soft 0.5 in the 18-49 demo and 4.86 million viewers. Adam was gorgeous and wonderful last night. He just seems to be peaking and I feel so happy and proud of him. It is about time because he has worked so hard,is so talented and there is no one who comes away after meeting him commenting that he is a great guy. He is a great man and has given so much of himself to his art. He deserves it all - everything that life has to offer. I know we all feel the same way and have invested lots of time into his life and career. I don't ever see myself not loving this man to pieces. Hi, Irish! Agree completely! You know what, I almost enjoy listening to Adam speak as much as I like to hear him sing. Well, almost. lol. I was perfectly fine with Adam not singing and just interacting with the contestants, as it showed his personality so beautifully. I really love listening to him talk, however the few seconds of him hitting notes were golden. Silly, but it was almost electrifying, and I almost melted when he told Laci how cool it is to channel those butterflies in your stomach, similarly to telling somebody something sensitive and very personal.
