Adam buys groceries – but the news is his hair!!!!
Adam went shopping at the Whole Foods in West LA – a regular paparazzi hangout.
The big news is that three days after his album cover shoot, he had a beanie on over his hair but clearly had the sides shaved 2 or 3 days ago. Doesn’t look like that this cover is not gonna be Emo Adam standing against a roughly plastered wall. But it does look like we are getting some clues about what "NEXT" may mean.

Just Like Family: Love and Dysfunction in the Fandom

There was something very familiar in the goings-on of the fandom's "glamily" over the past few days, and it took a minute before I could put my finger on it. And then I realized—I'd seen all this before—around the dinner table. The fandom has now had 2+ years to bond, and for better or for worse, it seems that we're family now. And some of the things we've seen around the family table can help us understand what goes on in the fandom, and maybe can teach us some important lessons as well.
Every family has someone at the head of the table, and our patriarch, of course, is Adam. We love him, we admire him, we want to grow up to be just like him
We listen to what he says, and we watch him carefully trying to read his expressions even when he isn't speaking to us. Doesn’t mean that we agree with everything he says. Maybe we snicker about his haircut or make fun of his swim shorts (looking at you, Q3) but we still think he's awesome and we compete to say something that will get his attention. Every family has characters. There's the peacemaker, always trying to get everyone to get along. There's the jokester who can break up the tension with a well-timed remark. There's the caretaker who remembers everyone's birthday. There's the black sheep whom everyone tolerates only because s/he's family. There's the one who rambles on and on and on about stuff endlessly (HEY! Y'all stop pointing at me!) It's humanly impossible to love everyone. Lesson: Sometimes you just gotta ignore the people you don't like. Other times, if you listen, you just might learn a little bit about their point of view and expand your own.
Family members can be annoying as heck, and sniping and griping at/about each other passes the time when nothing is going on. It's during the quiet times that you notice how your second cousin makes annoying sounds when he's chewing, or that a certain group of fans fail to stan with proper form. As fun as it might be to point out the flaws, going on the attack usually ends in tears or banishment from the table. Lesson: Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. And remember we're all alike in some ways—we worry about which fork to use, and about whether we have something stuck in our teeth. Mostly, we just want to be understood. We want to be liked.
However, if you do lose your temper and kick your sister in the ankle under the table, make sure "Dad" doesn't see you or he'll scold you (or worse—make you hug it out). Lesson: don't @ reply Adam when you're griping about other fans and don't get into a punching match when Adam is singing about love.
No matter how delicious you think the pie is, there's always someone who thinks the crust is too dry or that it needs more sugar. It's a given that not everyone will enjoy every outfit Adam wears or every song Adam sings. This is called personal taste and differences are normal. Lesson: For those who love pie, have another helping while it lasts. For those who don't, there's sure to be cake coming soon.
There are two things that bring the family together in unity. One is when someone attacks the person at the head of the table. Suddenly everyone is on the same page, and very quickly the call to "Exterminate! Exterminate!" rings out. Of course, it's only a matter of time before we start to disagree about the right way to be mad. But that moment of collective hurt tells me that what we share is a sense of compassion and justice and that we feel empathy for Adam.
The other thing that brings the family together is when something wonderful happens for Adam. Remember when we found out about the Grammy nom? Or how we felt when Adam tweeted "Rakastan"? For a precious while, we were united in our happiness for him. And that, more than anything else, is why I feel a sense of family in the fandom. Because no matter how much drama, no matter how much griping and sniping and wanking, we share our love for the guy at the head of the table. And when good things happen, there's nothing like having family to share it with.
So, bon appétit everyone , and pass the pie!
