So do we have to buy OUT in order to get the Advocate? Damn and now OUT is going to be the best selling magazine because of the Advocate? Like it or not, if you buy The Advocate you will be supporting OUT Magazine, so I think I will choose to agree with amw (even tho' she disses Republicans ) ... here is a quote from the article: "When he did agree to appear in a gay publication, in Out magazine (owned by Here Media, the parent company of The Advocate"),

Having an absolutely hellish day in RL (nothing world-shattering, just...GAH!) so it was extremely nice to find this wonderful Advocate profile here today! God, Adam, be more nuanced and reasonable and appealing...I dare you...go on..try... I particularly loved this bit, because as Gelly said earlier it's so wonderfully self-aware and also unpretentious, which is really the best kind of pop-star to be--someone who somehow manages to be a perfectionist and artistically and commercially ambitious while still remaining unpretentious about what it is he is doing: I pick up this kind of energy among young people that it might not be the coolest thing to say you like Adam Lambert’s music. People don’t think that I’m cool. So I love that I have the kids who are like ballsy enough to be like, ‘Fuck it, I like Adam’s music.’ I mean, I am kind of a nerd. I feel like there’s a collective eye-roll when it comes to me, in the media and just in general consciousness — with the exception of my amazing Glamberts, my hard-core fans who are the opposite.”
But he’s taking it all with a grain of salt.
“It really is a dream job, and it’s really cool. I do stop and keep it all in perspective. This is pop music, and it’s not fucking brain surgery. I mean, some of it’s serious…but some of it’s just really fun dance music. And I’m wearing eight pounds of makeup because I fucking want to. Why not?” Gah, this just says so much, about the image-tradeoffs to being "mainstream," about what Adam's sense of his own image is, about how important it is to him to be accessible to a group of people who are perhaps particularly searching for someone like him, and about what he thinks music is about and for. To at once sense the importance of being accessible and visible, and at the same time not give a fuck about how people react to that visibility--damn, he's awesome. I'm totally fascinated by this aspect of stardom--we all go through our lives mostly ignorant of how we come across to outsiders. Our friends and family love us, of course, and we have our own sense of ourselves, but it is impossible to know whether we effectively translate that self-image into a persona that reads the same to the outside world. Celebrities like Adam, however, are constantly bombarded with information about how the outside world--the media, critics, haters, fans--reads them. It's amazing to see Adam be so upfront about this. To acknowledge both what he sees in the public reaction to him, and how he manipulates that reaction--what he calls his "self-created and totally admitted facade." I get the sense that he's really very sophisticated in the way he thinks about his fame. Golly, I'd love to have a long sit-down conversation with him about it all! I am unspeakably excited for the new album, given his ever evolving, ever more tantalizing hints about it. HOW MUCH DO I LOVE HIM? THIS MUCH:

oh mwp, how i miss you and our talks over the fence!
He is alarmingly right on in his assessment of things. I'm looking forward to less collective eye-rolling after the release of his next album and more collective "ah-has!"

Oops ... new response from MyMagStore: Hi, I think I gave incorrect information with the last email. We have not received the Advocate since January, 2010, and have it listed as an online only publication with no printed edition. If you know otherwise, we can try to obtain it, but right now I do not think it is available. We are checking with suppliers but may not have an answer for a day or two.
