Since I don't seem to be able to sleep, I thought I'd share some thoughts I had during my 6 hour trip today. Last week someone mentioned being asked why Adam has such loyal fans and is the same true of other artists. I don't know about other artists, but I think one of the reasons we feel so much connection to Adam is that we have been able to watch him evolve into the man he is today. It's not so much the teenage years, though it's fun to see that, but the performances from BRIGADOON, 10 COMMANDMENTS, Upright Cafe, Zodiac Show, WICKED. What popped into my mind immediately was the "flickers" video then the follow up where Adam is dressed for a night of clubbing and when he is asked about his outfit for Zodiac he says, "Well, I thought I knew but..." He seemed so young, so naive, just a little hesitant, yet we see the Zodiac videos of CTF and he is self-assured and fierce. When we move on to AI8, again we see that even at 27 he is still a kid, but how rapidly he moves on to become HBIC, whether quietly but masterfully during all the interviews and interrogations about AMAs and being gay, or while stalking the stage and holding the audience in the palm of his hand during GNT.

Now, even though we worry and fret about Adam and his career sometimes, I don't think there are many who are not confident that he knows what he is doing, how to handle situations, and is able to balance his professional and personal life, work and fun, with the touch of a master. Those of us who weathered the "gates" of the first year off Idol, have developed strong stomachs from the roller coaster ride and after a few hours of angst after a negative incident are able to breathe deeply and take comfort in the fact that Adam will handle it.

IA and also think that another reason is that we really like the person that Adam is, someone who's real and quite honest in what he says and how he lives his life. I think people can also relate to his struggle to succeed and to be very happy for him when he does. He's a sweet guy and that really comes through.
