"Sam Smith showing that sexuality is no longer the barrier to success it used to be."
Sam enjoys a lot of mainstream success because they have never made it all about his sexuality. His talent was allowed to take center stage and shine. Even lately when he tries to get more attention for his sexuality, hardly anyone seems to care of dwell on it. Adam can give long and great interviews, but once his sexuality is mentioned that will grab the headlines and will be almost the only interesting thing they seem to want anyone to take from it. He is a great and needed role model but he is also a fantastic artist. I really hope radio will give him some of the attention he deserves for his talent. Velvet is wonderful and hopefully it will get a chance to be heard by many.

Sam didn’t come out until after the success of his first album. When the public recognized, that he was gay, he was already an established artist. And still one, who wasn’t displaying his queerness. So many casual listeners still didn’t know he was gay. Sam has become much more open and outspoken by now, but it’s by far not the same as Adam, who has been open and visibly queer from the start. Had Sam been like that, his career would have looked different today, IMO.

betty Thank you, dear Betty, for all the time and care you gave to making our birthdays extra special with your beautiful selection of cakes. They were a wonder to behold and made me smile when I looked at them each day. May your much deserved retirement be filled with all the JOYS you kindly gave to us throughout the years.
