I was thinking he (and we) were first introduced to Shawn Mendes at one of those radio station multi artist events...but can't remember when or where. He didn't open for Adam on any of his solo tours.

@lurleene and bamafan , Thanks, you're right. I just remembered that he performed before Adam. I also remembered that all the young girls and their parents came to see Shawn and many left right afterwards.

Shawn opened for Taylor. I think it was iheart when Adam and Shawn were on the same bill. Shawn has grown IMMENSLY since then! Adam has too no doubt but just starting out there was more room for improvement with Shawn. Adam has praised Shawn more than once
I don't think Adam gives prais when He doesnt really mean it or is phony or disengenuine in any way. He's a lover of music don't forget
I guess you guys are right about the Songs. Maaan you guys really hate what they did second era lol

Shawn Mendes opened for Adam on one of his tours, if I remember correctly. shawn didn't open for Adam. They just played on the same, I believe, radio concert with several other artists including Robin Thicke. But Adam praises everyone, lol. Apropos Robin Thicke - did you notice in the CelebJuice charade segment Adam doing a Robin Thicke behind "Miley's" twerking to signal the artist's identity? youtu.be/ktsSFjKN4FQ?t=1755Compare to the infamous original youtu.be/YFLv9Ns1EuQ?t=265Mel B. read that as "sex club"...

I'm in the minority but i really like btikm. Although i have to admit that probably the video has a big part to do with it. I just really like the good/light and Bad/dark side thing. I liked BTIKM as well. Did not care for NCOE and never understood why they held up the album to include it. It must have been the Bruno connection. I also never liked NL. But no songs from Trespassing became hits. And they would not without a lot of radio play. But his songs were no worse than many others that became hits because if radio plays them, they become hits. So it is never really the song. RCA never pushed anything hard from that album. I wonder if the new regime and players were trying to make a point because Adam was adamant about that direction (and being Executive Producer) when they felt he should be more pop/rock and rockish and less pop. It turned out to be a disaster for everyone. Those a**hats would probably love the direction he is going now. But so do I. HA. There was also a song written and produced by Linda Perry that he only sang once on tour. But unless Adam names the song, I guess we will all just be guessing based on the songs that we don't personally like, lol.

No need to read that much into it, lol. But he gives a shout out to a lot of artists that others don't care about or think are so special, even if they are doing great in their careers. Lizzo for example. But I'm sure he really does like her. It doesn't mean all of his fans are required to think the same thing.

True, I remember commenting that I was NOT thrilled Adam was last on the bill that night and others thought it was a great slot. Great debate! I was proven right, as many left after Shawn, and I still recall the parent of young one who partially stayed did not comment positively on Adam's performance-- called him an Elvis impersonator ( due to his movements, expressions I guess) . At the time knowing Adam's style and Shawn's popularity, I was so sorry Adam was last. Middle of the pack would have been better...at least he would have had a chance to open minds to his songs.

I liked Trespassing, but for me the downer about the album were the singles, and NL. Those songs are gone from my playlists for good. I really liked Chokehold, Shady, and Runnin. And Kickin In.

Hehe, ever the rebel, I love BTIKM and NL, especially NL. I don't even mind NCOE. Never listen to radio, so don't really care what is or isn't a good single. Like Lurleene always reminds us, only certain artists get played anyway, so I feel free to enjoy whatever songs I like. I have no clue (and it seems to be subjective) what makes a "good" single.
Pretty sure that every song I've ever fallen in love from any artist with would be considered a "bad" single, so it's a good thing I'm not in charge lol.
