Some of us are really taking the hair thing more seriously than I thought, and this has me thinking about NoAngel's essay and about what we can learn from Adam. As a young girl, I grew up in a family with very high standards. We children were expected to perform well, skip grades in school, always be polite and courteous to others, and, in general, behave in ways that would garner admiration for our parents. My mother, whom I love, enjoyed parading out our accomplishments whenever she could capture a listening audience. Thanks in large part to my four talented siblings, she had some good material from time to time. I loved what you wrote here, lynne! It sounds like we had the same Mom in some ways. When my mom had to move to assisted living and my dad decided to sell the house, my sister and I had to prepare the place for an estate sale. The entire house turned out to be a shrine to her motherhood. She had saved every single report card from all four children, any ribbon, any picture, all the cards congratulating her on our births ... everything. My mom had a little bit more of a rebel streak though. Even though she was goody-two-shoes on the outside, she loved Elvis and encouraged all of her daughters in our various rock-and-roll obsessions. I think she felt that as long as we behaved ourselves and got good grades, it was a harmless -- perhaps even necessary -- outlet for the pressure of the otherwise sky-high expectations. I think she would have loved Adam (not the AMA performance though ). One thing I also learned from my mom was to treat people decently and to expect to have my own dignity respected. I can't imagine what my mom would have done if she had caught one of her kids behaving the way that some fans do on on the Internet. She would have taken it away. To this day, this is the aspect of Internet fanning and stanning that gets me the most. When people stop having fun and start throwing away their own dignity and not respecting that of others, whether those others are other fans or the performers themselves. I still try not to say anything on the Internet that I wouldn't say to someone's face, or treat them any differently than I would to their faces. I do realize this expectation of others is completely a lost battle. Another way in which my mom and dad caused me to be out of step is that she raised us to think it was impolite to remark upon others' personal choices. Anything from hair to sexual orientation was simply none of anyone else's business. If someone showed up with a green mohawk and a bone in their nose, the ideal was not to react.at.all. If someone was gay or lesbian it was their own affair. My mom loved Liberace, Johnny Ray, and Johnny Mathis and you know ... she might have been a small town girl, but she wasn't a dumb person. These personal differences in our backgrounds, I think, go a long way towards explaining the enjoyment and comfort level some of us have with the various topics of conversation. I think the important thing is not to police other's emotions. That feels very intrusive to me when that happens to me or I see that happening to other people. Being called out and asked to account for yourself does not feel good regardless of background or personality type. Hey, amw! Sorry I didn't make it to the Uh Huh Her show, I just couldn't make it work. It was interesting what you wrote about the SWA kerfluffle. One of those incidents that makes me realize to hold off a bit before joining the lynch mob.

cassie - this - "It is an anxious time for Adam fans, waiting for news about new music and appearances. Many are on edge. Let's all remember to tread lightly and speak kindly during this time. Good stuff will be here shortly."
I think this is very true. For me, I'm more irritated at the whole BfM mess because of the way it was marketed I would be considered a traitor to purchase the music!!! Bastards!! I WANT NEW MUSIC NOW!! even if it is old music that has been repackaged, it's something I don't own, it's something I've never heard before! and Adam is making us wait a very long time for new music. Bah!!!!!
So, yeah, we all have opinions, and when there is really nothing to discuss except his hair, his makeup and his clothes some of us may go over the top, just briefly, as we transfer our angst waiting for tunes, onto his hairstyle, none of which we have any control of whatsoever.
ETA: hi there juniemoon! love your post. It was fun to meet other Austin Adamites at the UhHuhHer show. I'm kind of a live music freak. I'll be at Stubb's indoors tonight for Melissa Ferrick, another awesome lesbian singer. Very sexy too.

I love Sauli's blog. Sauli is one of those guys you want to pinch his ass and just cuddle the hell out of. I love the way he expresses himself. I think the guy is probably really funny when you know him. I think he would keep me in stitches. He looks like a "keeper" to me. Go Adam. Have a happy day people. I think something good is coming our way. I feel this tingle of excitement in my veins. I hope we get some good Halloween pictures at least. Yes and I think Adam doesn’t even realize yet how funny Sauli actually is. Sauli’s way to speak and use the language is so cute and funny. I guess it still will take some time for him to learn to use the English language the same adorable way. :D

Thank you for sharing lynne! I love love love your post!! And I'm with NoAngel on this on Adam's hair--- I don't love it, and I'm looking forward to whatever his crazy ass comes up with next. I'll either love it or laugh myself silly over it. Either way, it's all good I realise this look isn't coming back anytime soon, if ever, but I'm partial to the bangs-in-his-eyes look myself

WOW, we're still talking about the hair! I don't care how he wears his hair, it's all good. However, this last style made me curious because until yesterday we never saw it from the side or back. I was glad to see the rounded shape because this is what I was expecting it to look like...

Since Halloween is Adam's favorite time of the year, does anyone think he may send any information about his single this weekend or Monday? Also, when specifically does the radio freeze go into effect for the holidays?
Thanks! I obviously know nothing!
