A few days ago when we saw that tweet from the fashion designer Michael Ashton, that they used his clothes on Adam's photoshoot I posted that picture and probably you thought I was joking. I was not. Adam is very much into "next" fashion. Please be prepared for anything. ;D And remember that it will only last probably a month. ETA LOL mys*&@^#r we used the same next word! ;D

RequestAdam Request Adam Lambert Susan Boyle just unveiled her "Mad World" via @aolmusic blog.music.aol.com/2011/10/27/sus… Still no comparison to @adamlambert's vh1.com/video/misc/490… ; Boorrrring...... I 'm REALLY trying to be objective. Honestly. Please believe me. Yawn. Wow. I hadn't realized how repetitive that song is, how plodding and monotonous the rhythm, how narrow the range. As written, it basically goes nowhere. No arc to climax to resolution. It's numbing, actually. Maybe that was the point? The singer is so beaten down, so defeated, that he/she has become numb, and has no reaction? If so, Susan's "interpretation" is perfect. Because there is no interpretation in her performance. Angelina wrote about the singer as an interpretive artist. She said, "in order to touch the soul of an audience, the singer has to use the music and the lyrics in unexpected, artistic ways, perhaps by holding a note just a fraction longer than written, or using unanticipated phrasing, or lifting a word out of a phrase, in such a way, that it holds the audience’s attention, and thereby delivers to them an interpretation of the song they may never have thought of themselves." In contrast to Susan's rendition, Adam's interpretation pulled at our heartstrings and spoke to our souls. As Paula said, "I feel your pain." Ironically, the two renditions are in the same key, and at the same tempo. How could the same song sound so different with different singers? How could one drone on in a boring way, and the other touch me so? I think that the comparison is enlightening. Adam demonstrates what Angelina was talking about. He stretches a note just a fraction longer, or starts it a fraction off the beat. He emphasizes certain consonants in the words to add meaning, he crescendos and decrescendos on phrases to give it emotional movement and intensity, he changes up the melody, making it more interesting and more moving, he bends a note just a tad, adding a little different texture here, and here, and here. Sometimes he is slightly breathy, sometimes crystal clear, sometimes floating, and sometimes powerful. He does so much to this little song. Adam is an artist of depth. Susan is a singer with a nice voice. And, this is me being objective, too.

OMG! That Mad World is sooooo bad!!!!! There isn't one ounce of interpretation in that version. I am shocked at how bad it is! And it totally sounds over produced and over processed. "Yuk, yuk, yuk!" (That ^^ is me being objective!^^ ) Really!
